Yes, absolutely. High levels of histamine are well known to result in

OCD, amongst other things.

Histamine interferes with many neurotransmitters, including seratonin

metabolism.

It contributes greatly to BBB breakdown, you may want to look into

reducing the levels asap.

if using make sure they are h1 blockers: loratidine/claritin,

ketotifen/zaditen or benadryl

I meant to say vitC didn't work for us at all - didn't reduce

histamine-related reactions... none of the other naturals did

The antihistamines I listed are all OTC, apart from Ketitofen. I'd try

loratidine/claritin first, if that does not work wonders get gp to

prescribe ket.

Hi,

Katy has been taking Sodium Chromoglycate for the past 6 yrs. It really has

changed her life for the better. The immunologist also prescribed Singulaire and

Ceterizine. She starts taking these in early March before the hayfever season

gets underway and continues taking them through to October. Since doing this

,she has had little to know hayfever or excema and her Autism also improved.

We tried ketotifen in the past and didn't see much improvement with this, but I

may not have used it for long enough.

This probably isn't a lot of help now, but i think you can get sodium

chromoglicate eye drops OTC . She has also been helped with Nasonex

nasal drops in the past.

Very interesting, thanks Sharon. I've just been looking into leukotrine

LTE4 antagonism (by acyclovir of all things!), but now that you mention

Singulair... - imo this could often be an important inflammatory

pathway in autism, an important thing to target. Just curious if you've

ever tried either acyclovir or valtrex? (I'm not sure if valtrex has the

same effect though, no studies done tmk)

Before the Sodium chromoglycate she just seemed to react to everything , had

terrible jerking when she had eaten , huge swollen tummy, could not concentrate

or remember much, hardly any speech even though she was having plenty of great

input. She was a very unhappy little soul. The Sodium Chromoglicate was for her

food allergies and I think it has just dampened down her immune system that was

over reacting to everything. Once her system was quietened down, she could

tolerate more foods and environmental things. Her bowel started working better

and she didn't have as much brain fog or maybe pain. Her speech and

understanding came on and she became more involved with us.

If you remember we tried all sorts of biomed with Katy ,but she just could not

tolerate hardly anything and would regress and get sick. Katy is still autistic

but is not sick all the time now ,she seems very healthy and is steadily

gaining.

Her school is fantastic , I know we are lucky. She starts yr 10 next Sept and

they feel she is doing well enough to work for her Maths and Art Gsce's. I'm not

that bothered about GCSE's it just an example to show how she is now able to

learn. I feel the SC has played a major part in enabling this

Hi Natasa,

She takes oral Sodium Chromoglycate 300mgs 1/2 hr before food 3x day.

I think this is quite a high dose, but several Consultants feel it is safe. We

can give her another 300mgs if needed. She has never had any acyclovir or

valtrex.
