Guest guest
My son has been diagnosed with PDD since he was three years old. This month we had an ARD where the school had a psychologist come and do an evaluation. Based on his recommendation, they decided he didn't fit the " Autism " quota and removed it from his diagnosis. Now they are treating him as OHI- ADHD and Speech delay. Has anyone else had this problem? They say he isn't autistic because he communicates with people to the best of his ability...I thought there were several levels of autism. Now my son, who is 16, is in limbo...we have no idea what plan to follow to help him function. It seems like we are supposed to throw everything we learned about autism out the window and start over. I basically told them at the ARD meeting that they could call it whatever they wanted but my son was not normal and had more going on than just ADHD. Any advice? The neurologist said technically he does fall under the Autism spectrum disorder but wouldn't call him autistic? What does that mean? We don't have the money to take him to all these specialists and are doing the best we can with what our insurance will cover plus our out of pocket expense. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
