Guest guest
Namiko, maybe you're coming down with something? Are you going to see Aunt Flo soon? Maybe you need one full rest day? Take your vitamins and eat lotsa veggiesLove,Your Mother I really need to figure out what's going on with my body. I had planned on doing two FIRM Express cardio workouts last night and for the life of me I could barely get through the Ignite Cardio and it's only 20 minutes! Honestly, it's not like it's a super tough HIIT workout, right? Maybe it is? Anyway, I got through that one and then I put in Cycle 2's cardio, Accelerate. Rebekah leads this and it's high impact almost from the get go - jumping jacks and skiing and the 8 second bursts are much more intense than Cycle 1. Well, after about 10 minutes I was done. My chest was tight, my head was pounding, and I finished the leg thread bursts and went to cool down. I have no idea why I couldn't get through this. I think I'll do the Turbo Jam Fat Blaster or maybe the Turbo Fire HIIT 15 tonight, something I KNOW I can get through, and I'll see if this new FIRM program is just deceptively difficult! I did burn 350 calories in those 30 minutes, though, which was good. Have a good weekend, everybody! Namiko
Guest guest
Actually I'm thinking now that I might have to get my synthroid dosage reevaluated/readjusted. I'm getting a blood test in a few weeks and seeing my endocrinologist next month and I'll talk to her about my energy levels.Seriously, anyone out there (especially older women) who feels unusually sluggish, speak to your doctor about checking your thyroid! I had no idea that my hormone levels had dropped so low, and only found out because my fertility specialist was incredibly anal retentive and an overachieving, Type A personality who wanted me checked for EVERYTHING under the sun. I think the standard saying is something like 40% of women over 40 have some sort of thyroid problem, 50% of women over 50, 60% of women over 60, etc. Thanks, Mom! :-)NamikoPS - my friends and I are tentatively planning a trip out to Seattle with a side trip to Portland! Any thoughts on the places to hit? I'm thinking of dragging my friends out to your Esplanade for a run/walk. You make it sound so amazing. To: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 11:10:19 AMSubject: Re: Thursday's workout - FIRM Express (ugh) Namiko, maybe you're coming down with something? Guest guest
Hi Namiko! Now I'm scared - I'm doing Rebekah's workout on Monday! I did Kickstart Your Metabolism today as an add-on and it was a toughie! I think these FIRMs are pretty tough - Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 10:25:21 AMSubject: Thursday's workout - FIRM Express (ugh) I really need to figure out what's going on with my body.I had planned on doing two FIRM Express cardio workouts last night and for the life of me I could barely get through the Ignite Cardio and it's only 20 minutes! Guest guest
Hi Donna,No, don't be scared! Honestly, I think my thyroid hormone levels are off and my energy is sapped because of it. Accelerate Cardio is higher impact than Ignite Cardio and I think that's what got to me as well - my feet are not so great when it comes to jumping jacks and skiing and even jumping rope in place. But I'm glad you think the new FIRMs are tougher too because I was truly puzzled by how it wore me out so fast! I previewed that Kickstart workout and was very glad it was only 10 minutes. I think Ray is a great addition to the FIRM team. You're gonna do great on Monday!NamikoTo: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 1:17:27 PMSubject: Re: Thursday's workout - FIRM Express (ugh) Hi Namiko! Now I'm scared - I'm doing Rebekah's workout on Monday! Guest guest
Oh, Thanks! I hope they can fix your thyroid levels - not having sufficient energy is not good!I am thinking that maybe next week I'll do an active recovery week - my back is kind of tight - which worries me - I don't want a flare up like I had in October. I'll play it by ear. If I do an active recovery week I'll focus on walking and Pilates. Take care - Donna To: exercisevideos Sent: Fri, January 21, 2011 2:14:40 PMSubject: Re: Thursday's workout - FIRM Express (ugh) Hi Donna,No, don't be scared! Guest guest
Maybe you are fighting or have a virus, besides, FIRM Express is meant to workout you out hard in those 20 minutes, it may have for oomph than you are given it credit for.Vennitta I really need to figure out what's going on with my body.
