I used to make a product that was a fabric

softener. It was a cationic surfactant, which means it does something with the

electrical charge of the fibers, but more importantly it is a biocide . Because

it wasn’t sold as a biocide but a fabric softener it didn’t go

through the usual MSDS criteria. Don’t know if it’s the same in the

US.
