Guest guest
also forgot to add he is now back to being sound and light sensitive..... Hi All Jack did not meet the counting rules but still appeared toxic so was advised to do 10 round DMSA/ALA and see what happened. Unfortunately couldnt start the ALA due to mercury exposure from a broken light bulb a couple of weekends before due to start. Started with DMSA only. Negatives: Lots of hand flapping / lots of running up & down / toe walking - all calmed down when ACE and Candex added to supps Seriously early rising using 5am sometimes earlier - very very light sleeper Rash on back of legs (assume some of die off) - calmed down with GSE diluted wash Emotional outbusts - crying, hitting hands on his head hard - calmed down somewhat with ACE/Candex but not completely Started chanting Ah, Ah, Ah over and over again like he is in pain, agitated, stressy Approaches things like playground equipment now with caution/suspicion! No longer jumping on trampoline Loss of interest in toys - seems to be returning somewhat now Constantly requesting food from extremely limited choice, waits rights next to me while it is cooking then doesn' eat it - this is driving me nuts!! Lethargic until about Tuesday - school are asking questions why he is so tired in class! Loss of some of his signal words Positives: Falling asleep easier although not in bed, have to leave him on the sofa and carry him up Started to point Great interaction with our dog Started to use ipod Much more in tune with other family members and friends Any advice on sorting out the negatives would be greatly appreciated? I gather from this information I should continue and add in ALA at the begining of June??? Marina xx

Guest guest
Marina,I know that you will get some great advice from others on here but some of your son's symptoms seem so similar to our son's that I thought I'd comment.Loss of words is bacteria for us which flared straight away with chelation and we are still fighting clostridia. Our son hits his head occasionally and it could be on or off round and I believe he actually has a head ache and let him have ibuprofen and increase the mag and c to relieve some symptoms. For sleep we have stopped melatonin and are trying 5HTP and Ltheanine with success, given one hour before bed. When our son is agitated and has melt downs in the afternoon it means he normally needs more ACE and if he doesn't get it in the afternoons he doesn't sleep well. One thing I have noticed with our son too is that with too many supps he gets super fussy it's just ridiculously hard to get him to eat. Then I have to stop what I'm doing and get him to eat first and then introduce the supps again slowly.Anyway like I said I'm sure you will get some great advice, I'm just sharing how things are at our place.I must also say nice improvements for 10 rounds! All the best, xTo: autism-biomedical-europe <Autism-Biomedical-Europe >Sent: Friday, May 20, 2011 5:33 PMSubject: Re: ROUND 10 UPDATE also forgot to add he is now back to being sound and light sensitive..... Guest guest
I would suggest lowering the dose of DMSA for the next few rounds. And for my son, sound sensitivity can be controlled with yeast fighters. In spite of the negatives, it sounds like you are on the right track. Guest guest
Hi Marina, I've found, for me and my kids, that DMSA causes us to be emotional, not in a good way. I keep the doses very low (DS, for example, is 52 pounds, over 170 rounds chelation, and I still stay at 12 mgs when I use it). For us, ALA is much 'nicer' and I can go much higher. You may find that some of the symptoms you talk about below related to this kind of emotional stuff will disappear if you can introduce the ALA and reduce the DMSA. Lots of people need very good adrenal support during chelation. It sounds like your son is one of them. If you're not using the night doses as a good chance to deal with yeast, I would suggest trying that. I would give Candex during the two night doses and a big dose of probiotics with the morning dose. This kept yeast really well under control. It sounds promising :-) Anita > > Hi All > > Jack did not meet the counting rules but still appeared toxic so was advised > to do 10 round DMSA/ALA and see what happened. Guest guest
Hi //Ann & Anita - thanks so much for your replies, sorry haven't replied sooner but Jack has been ill so haven't chelated this weekend. So to summarise from your replies I should lower the DMSA - he is only 37lbs at 8 years old so as you can imagine this constant refusal of food is getting really worrying now. He is currently having 2 x ACE in the morning and 2 in the afternoon - same with the Candex, I give him one drop of Mag as it is also in his Brainchild Spec Support Vitamins but should I add another drop??? How much more ACE and Candex can I give him?? He is still on all of his DAN supplements just added what was needed for chelation. He was down to two main meals - GF/CF pasta and a greek soup made with brown rice and lentils as of this week has started to refuse those too so is surviving on Naked bars, ready salted crisps, cashew nuts and cucumber, the choice of foods did start just before starting chelation. He asks me to make it then doesnt eat it!! On another note diluted GSE works a dream on the rash on his legs. Guest guest
Well it might be the cortisol was high before the chelation and it's an ongoing issue. I'm just guessing at this point. What are his sleep/wake habits like as that's often an indication of cortisol levels. Is he up at a reasonable time or up at 4 Am? Does he sleep through or is he up during the night? Have you had any stool tests done recently (parasites, gut flora and SCFAs)? I'd be inclined to start there to see what's going on. I know what you mean about the organic food gong to waste:-(( But it shows where your heart is:-)) Hi Marina,I've found, for me and my kids, that DMSA causes us to be emotional, not in a good way. Guest guest
Hi - chelation has helped with him falling asleep between 9 - 10pm (on the sofa) but his rising very early anything from about 4am but getting on for 5am seems to be the norm! While sleeping he stays asleep but seriously light sleeper - if his foot isnt touching my leg he wakes!! Last stool tests were done in October last year with great improvements on the last ones. Maybe need to do another through Sue and see if anything has changed?? Marina xx Well it might be the cortisol was high before the chelation and it's an ongoing issue. Guest guest
Maybe he is hungry but is in pain and so cannot eat? It may be worth going to the doctor both to try and discover is there is a medical reason for the inabillity/refusal, also to cover yourself if a social worker etc thinks there is a " failure to thrive " . May also be worth being on the books of an NHS dietician. I can't remember what is happening about school and eating there. Guest guest
Marina, He's eating:-))) This is a good sign (!) I see that's he's looking for salty savoury..that is an indication that his adrenals are working a lot. Have you got any Celtic salt there that you can use in food preparation. Guest guest
Marina, did the lack of apetite start with the Hemisphere hand & feet exercises, i had an awful time with Harry last year but he was not swallowing the food, just chewing and spitting it out so i had to blend everything up, it took me ages to work out that this was what it was but i spoke to Hemisphere and they gave me facial exercises to do on Harry as the hand & feet exercises had heighted his oral sensitivity and the trigeminal facial exercises calmed this down so he slowly began to eat solid foods again. x To: Autism-Biomedical-Europe From: marinavrahimi@...Date: Sun, 22 May 2011 09:57:28 +0100Subject: Re: Re: ROUND 10 UPDATE Hi - would this beneficial in general as the lack of appetite started about two weeks before I started chelation and has just got worse and worse. It is like he wants to eat but cant and snacks instead???? He will wait right next to the cooker while you prepare his food then just sits and looks at it, really odd. Even with the snacks he will request that you open it for him and sometimes he will eat them and other times not. Costing me an absolute fortune in wasted organic food! would cook all day long if he would eat but just feeding the bin at the moment!! Marina xx Marina,Sorry if I have written this before as I may be losing track of this thread, I think high cortisol is linked with lack of appetite. He's probably under stress with chelation. If it's the cortisol, you can bring it down with PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE.Also I would call up Helios and see if a homeopath can recommend something.I can't remember what probiotics you are giving but you should give a wide range.Bifidus is the main one to go for and then Plantarum and Rhamnose.Give him also INULIN to feed the Short chained fatty acids as they are incredibly (INCREDIBLY) important for gut integrity. (Just doing some research on this now.)x Hi Marina,I've found, for me and my kids, that DMSA causes us to be emotional, not in a good way. I keep the doses very low (DS, for example, is 52 pounds, over 170 rounds chelation, and I still stay at 12 mgs when I use it). For us, ALA is much 'nicer' and I can go much higher. You may find that some of the symptoms you talk about below related to this kind of emotional stuff will disappear if you can introduce the ALA and reduce the DMSA.Lots of people need very good adrenal support during chelation. It sounds like your son is one of them. If you're not using the night doses as a good chance to deal with yeast, I would suggest trying that. I would give Candex during the two night doses and a big dose of probiotics with the morning dose. This kept yeast really well under control. It sounds promising :-)Anita > > Hi All> > Jack did not meet the counting rules but still appeared toxic so was advised> to do 10 round DMSA/ALA and see what happened. Guest guest
Yes i second that, Harry become sensitive to me flushing the toilet when he was in the room, he would cover his ears where as he never did this before, one time i was using the electric knife in the kitchen and he was screaming and tugging at my top but i have been able to use all the noisy kitchen equipment without bother now and only occasionally does he cover his ears with the toilet flushing, we have completed 56 rounds. Guest guest
Hi All it could well have been and are currently doing the trigeminal exercises so will plug away and hope they help, just wish I knew the reason why he decided to cut so much out of an already limited diet Decided today he is scared stiff of balloons, just got to take this as a good thing where chelation is concerned and again just keep going. Thanks everyone Marina xx His appetite will get better the more rounds you do :0)Kirsty x> > >> > > Hi All> > >> > > Jack did not meet the counting rules but still appeared toxic so was > > advised> > > to do 10 round DMSA/ALA and see what happened.
