Warren included below] Hi everyone, I’m not sure how many of you have heard about the $18-22 billion dollar deficit that the state of Texas is facing or that the state is currently looking to reduce the FY 11 budget by 5% and the FY12-13 budget by 10%. These reductions will definitely affect children and adults with disabilities and special health care needs. Here are some of the biggest cutbacks (using the 10% total): Community Mental Health Services = $80 million State Mental Health Hospital Services = $44 million Children with Special Health Care Needs = $24 million EMS Trauma = $23 million Mental Health Crisis/Transitional Services = $10 million Primary Care = $9 million Immunizations = $8 million. I have attached both a survey asking about the services and funding your child receives and any cuts you may have had and a flyer for a rally at the State Capitol on September 1st. I know that many of you cannot attend this rally since you are scattered across the whole state but if you can come, please do. It’s critical that our legislators hear from families who will be affected by these cuts. Please also consider filling out the survey and help us by telling your stories to the legislature. Thanks and hope to hear from you soon!
