Guest guest
UGH!!! I would go insane!! To: Soundsensitivity From: wooleymoran@...Date: Thu, 12 Jun 2008 03:04:20 +0000Subject: Where to begin....... Hi all.I'm new to this group but not to this bloody annoying problem. I wasSO relieved when I found out I'm not alone--I always just thought Ihad a screw loose or something!Like many of the folks whose posts I've read, my troubles, too, seemto be much worse with stress. For quite some time now, things hadbeen going pretty well, but I went back to school and now my stresslevel is through the roof. What's really starting to drive me nuts ismy job (which never, ever bothered me before in this respect) but nowI absolutely dread it. No, I can't wear ear plugs or use whitenoise because -- here's the kicker -- I'm a medical transcriptionist,so every day I have to put on the headphones and listen to these# & ^% & #$ doctors smacking in my ear. Most aren't too bad (except forthe ones who eat while they're dictating--didn't their parents teachthem any manners???) and I might be able to deal with it a bit better;however, I usually end up doing this one guy's dictation a lot. Hespeaks very slowly and pauses a LOT, smacking his lips just as he'sabout to begin a new thought. Arrrgh!!!! I feel my blood pressurerise and I just about explode. Any thoughts? I'm at my wits' end,and I'm really afraid I'm going to have a stroke or do some physicaldamage...... Sorry for the long post. It feels good just to vent, at least. Thanks so much. Guest guest
Welcome to the group! My only advice for you is: Find another job. I know it sounds drastic, but with 4S, that would be a neverending torture. And why put yourself through it? If you have transcription skills, you could also do other secretarial from home that doesn't involve earphones, but instead, perhaps written docs that need typed. Just an idea. Here's a good website for working at home jobs: www.wahm.com. Another is: ratracerebellion.com. Both have nice listings of available positions you can do from home using your mac or pc. Good luck!! We feel your pain! > > Hi all. > > I'm new to this group but not to this bloody annoying problem.
