Guest guest
As mentioned in pp, the calcium in Tums is virtually worthless. A midwife I was going to use suggested papaya enzymes and/or a handful of almonds or hazelnuts well chewed. The nuts always seemed to work for my pregnancy heartburn. In fact I carried some around in my purse with a few papaya enzymes just in case. > > I've been reading the posts regarding calcium and how it's eliminated from the body, so not really toxic. I am a little confused because I've been told that taking too many Tums (calcium) can cause kidney stones. As I am pregnant and suffering from heartburn yet again, my OB told me to watch my Tums intake because of this. Can anyone explain the differing opinions. btw, my OB isn't the only person who mentioned this to me. > > Diane >
Guest guest
Thanks for the advice everyone. I had been using papaya enzymes earlier on. But they stopped working so well. That's why I went onto Tums. I don't feel comfortable taking anything OTC. Even though my OB said I could take Pepcid - just not comfortable with it, though. I hadn't heard of the almonds or hazelnuts - I'll try that - thanks! -Diane Re: calcium As mentioned in pp, the calcium in Tums is virtually worthless. Guest guest
I forgot to mention ginger -- it's usually recommended for prenancy nausea -- but it might help. http://www.vitacost.com/Healthnotes/Concern/Morning-Sickness.aspx > > > > I've been reading the posts regarding calcium and how it's eliminated from the body, so > not really toxic.
