Guest guest
Marina,Sorry if I have written this before as I may be losing track of this thread, I think high cortisol is linked with lack of appetite. He's probably under stress with chelation. If it's the cortisol, you can bring it down with PHOSPHATIDYLSERINE.Also I would call up Helios and see if a homeopath can recommend something.I can't remember what probiotics you are giving but you should give a wide range.Bifidus is the main one to go for and then Plantarum and Rhamnose.Give him also INULIN to feed the Short chained fatty acids as they are incredibly (INCREDIBLY) important for gut integrity. (Just doing some research on this now.)x Hi Marina,I've found, for me and my kids, that DMSA causes us to be emotional, not in a good way. I keep the doses very low (DS, for example, is 52 pounds, over 170 rounds chelation, and I still stay at 12 mgs when I use it). For us, ALA is much 'nicer' and I can go much higher. You may find that some of the symptoms you talk about below related to this kind of emotional stuff will disappear if you can introduce the ALA and reduce the DMSA. Lots of people need very good adrenal support during chelation. It sounds like your son is one of them. If you're not using the night doses as a good chance to deal with yeast, I would suggest trying that. I would give Candex during the two night doses and a big dose of probiotics with the morning dose. This kept yeast really well under control. It sounds promising :-)Anita > > Hi All> > Jack did not meet the counting rules but still appeared toxic so was advised> to do 10 round DMSA/ALA and see what happened. Guest guest
Hi - would this beneficial in general as the lack of appetite started about two weeks before I started chelation and has just got worse and worse. It is like he wants to eat but cant and snacks instead???? He will wait right next to the cooker while you prepare his food then just sits and looks at it, really odd. Even with the snacks he will request that you open it for him and sometimes he will eat them and other times not. Costing me an absolute fortune in wasted organic food! would cook all day long if he would eat but just feeding the bin at the moment!! Guest guest
Marina,Here's a Pubmed study to support the short chained fatty acids issue I was taking about:http://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pubmed?term=Suzuki%20T%2C%20Yoshida%20S%2C%20Hara%20H.%202008.%20Physiological%20concentrations%20of%20short-chain%20fatty%20acids%20immediately%20suppress%20colonic%20epithelial%20permeability.%20Br%20J%20Nutr%20100%2C%20pp.%20297-305.x--- Subject: Re: Re: ROUND 10 UPDATETo: Autism-Biomedical-Europe Date: Sunday, 22 May, 2011, 8:54 Hi //Ann & Anita - thanks so much for your replies, sorry haven't replied sooner but Jack has been ill so haven't chelated this weekend. So to summarise from your replies I should lower the DMSA - he is only 37lbs at 8 years old so as you can imagine this constant refusal of food is getting really worrying now. He is currently having 2 x ACE in the morning and 2 in the afternoon - same with the Candex, I give him one drop of Mag as it is also in his Brainchild Spec Support Vitamins but should I add another drop??? How much more ACE and Candex can I give him?? He is still on all of his DAN supplements just added what was needed for chelation. He was down to two main meals - GF/CF pasta and a greek soup made with brown rice and lentils as of this week has started to refuse those too so is surviving on Naked bars, ready salted crisps, cashew nuts and cucumber, the choice of foods did start just before starting chelation. He asks me to make it then doesnt eat it!! On another note diluted GSE works a dream on the rash on his legs. Guest guest
Hi Margaret - I did think this too but for example this morning asked for soup, greek recipe so takes ages! He waited while I cooked it sat down, stirred it a bit and left it, 20 mins later happily munched a pack of ready salted crisps???? Really at a loss here Marina x Maybe he is hungry but is in pain and so cannot eat? It may be worth going to the doctor both to try and discover is there is a medical reason for the inabillity/refusal, also to cover yourself if a social worker etc thinks there is a " failure to thrive " . May also be worth being on the books of an NHS dietician. I can't remember what is happening about school and eating there. Guest guest
Sounds like good overall improvement. How is his weight? I would still do a stool test....
