Welcome Carla!

I would just say to take your favorite lotion and cleansers to the hospital, and

slippers for walking in. I

didn't even need my robe to walk in--the gowns were sufficient. And after you

get home, don't over do it

with anything. Take it easy. You won't be eating very much and be sure not to

push that--be good to

yourself. Drink your water, take a good multi-vitamin and take your calcium.

Don't skimp on these at all.

Good luck to you.

Carla

Congrats and good luck. You are in great hands.

Welcome to the group.

Kristy

P.S My tip is to form a support group around you. Go to as many meetings as

you can, and definetly come to the pool party!

Hi Bev, Thank You for the lovely reply. Today I bought a new pair of slippers

at Macys. I will get some new lotions and cleansers, too! I want to be ready

in advance. It is so nice to have some words of wisdom from someone who has

been there. How long have you been switched? How much have you lost? I live in

Reno, NV and that makes it hard for me to attend the support groups, but I would

really like to go. I read about one of the patients that is still in the

hospital. It sounds like she has had a very difficult time. I hope she will

get better soon.

Sincerely,

Carla

Hi Kristy, Thank You.. I have not been nervous, but with reading here today

about the patient that is still in the hospital, I feel a bit nervous, only a

bit. Oh how I feel for the woman that still is in and has a leak. I hope she

is able to have the leak fixed soon, and turns a corner with her health.

When did you have your surgery?

Sincerely,

Carla

Oh Carla, there are so MANY! :) Seriously, congratulations on your

date! My best suggestion is make sure you have a support person with

you. My mom was an invaluable help to me during my hospital stay.

Also, afterwards in the hotel. She helped me in the shower,

encouraged me to do my walking, reminded me to sip my water, etc.

Welcome to the group!

Hi Carla!

The best " thing " I had along was my support person! She was invaluable in

keeping me supported, calm and she walked with me, night and day! The next

two are liquid body wash and lip balm! Absolutely vital.

I am almost five months out, have lost 75.5 pounds (yeeeehawwww). I had an

incisional infection that took 82 days to clear up (but it didn't stop me

from being out and about) and I was able to eat comfortable from the first

day I started on food. I do take Gas-X or Phazyme on occasion for tummy gas

(and I used it daily after surgery). I have always been able to get all my

water down.

I sincerely wish you the best of luck. I have had six other surgeries and

this one was only a little tougher than the hysterectomy. I got out of the

hospital in four days (normal) and got to go home (6 hours away) one week

after surgery. I am so happy with my decision to have the DS!

Hugs and blessings, Ann
