my son was on valtrex severl yrs ago under a different protocol. at that time, the dose was 500mg 3xd. the healing/regression stage was horrible. we actually had to try three times. the third time it took (meaning he handled it better).

anyway, at that time, the only improvements were cognitive. my son was on valtrex and famvir (different times) almost three yrs. when we stopped that particular protocol, i weaned my son off valtrex.

fast forward to about a few months ago, as a result of the immuno science labs, my son's current doc put him on valtrex (500mg 3x day. however, we only do 2xd). my son has other viral issues than hhv6. i will soon add OLE and cumanda. have to wait a bit though. doing something else now.

anyway, the only improvements some years ago was the cognitive. right now, i really havent seen anything. just going by lab results.

Hi Kendra,

I would classify my son (just turned 10 on April 5), who has documented Herpes titers, as a non-responder and we've been at the Valtrex for 4 months now. He's also taking 1500 mg per day (divided into 3 doses of 500 mg each). No "wows" here, but I can't say that I've seen regression.

My best,

Non Responders

Hi guys,

Just wondering if there are parents who have documented HHV-6, HSV who HAVE NOT seen improvements with Valtrex after 2 months. We have a 5 1/2 year old severely autistic child, and he is of course regressing w/ his toileting and limited communication which is VERY, VERY sad for us to watch. He is on 1500mg/day, and we have been on this dose for 2 weeks. We tried 250mg/day for 3 weeks before switching DAN doctors. Also- has anyone seen regression in skills that did not come back? Any response would be so appreciated. Thanks!

Kendra

My best,

i believe that the way valtrex worked on my son was on the cognitive level.
