Guest guest
I need help. I have been seen by Dr. Ellenbogen here in Seattle. I trust this doctor very much and he knows more about Chiari then any other NS I have seen. I started seeing him after I ended up in a hospital with seizures and loss of feeling and use of my body from the neck down. I was scheduled for surgery to put a LP shunt in on the 31st of May. However since I am active duty I have a major problem. They requier that I have NS at the Army hospital in the area sign off on it. I was suppose to go down today and find out if they were going to do the surgery or DR Ellenbogen. I received my records from my last hospital stay. Which the doctors put that I had been admitted for headaches and nausea. Nothing was mentioned about the seizure or the fact I had temporary parlasis for several days. Then when I got to NS at the Army Hospital I had nothing but problems. I had a NS that told me I had no pseudomeningocele and really did not need a shunt. (I belive the mri and the specialist my self.) He also said that my problems are psycological not physical. He tried to tell me that he has several Chiari patients with shunts and I do not need one, also that I need to see a eye doctor because my eye problems also are not chiari related. So know almost 2 months after they found this problem I am back to square one. No help and it must be in my head. Since this doctor does not feel I need the surgery I cant have Dr Ellenbogen do the surgery. I am so scared. Do I have to become paralized for life or almost dead to have these people belive me. Any advise would help. Especially with being Active military and dealing with Tri-care. Thanks Shauncey
