So I always say: unprocessed fresh milk from a local farmer I know personally who pastures on organic fields.

Personally, I have always liked the way that Joann Sils Grohman put it in her book, "Keeping a Family Cow": she calls it "untreated".

I like both of these terms but most I like adding that it comes from a local farmer. Of course the term farmer at this point is questionable considering in are area they think people who farm do not own livestock they only raise grain. I have had people ask if I farm also instead of just raise goats, sheep, and cattle!

I always feel like singing Old Mac had a farm...when they ask that one. I think people should have the right to buy locally produced products

so that they can see what the animals eat, how they look, and how they are treated. What really irritates me is the local grocery selling goat milk products from Vermont and Canada but I can't sell dairy goat products because of the regulations in Kentucky.

Since you are so close to IL, have you looked into selling there. I don't know what the laws are, but I can rather easily buy raw cheese in the store- at Whole Foods anyway. We certainly can't buy raw milk though. Also, I believe raw milk sales are legal in IL, but we have to provide our own containers.
