Guest guest
Hi Margaret, to me it would mean " a change in emphasis/focus " in the campaign/procedural framework following the sense of your context. But " verwiegen " means " weighing " , so perhaps also " as a result of the procedural analysis ... (Google doesn't know the word) 'Campaign' in the pharmaceutical or agrochemical industry (possibly other manufacturing as well) generally refers to a wave of coordinated activity to accomplish the production of some material, or in your case to accomplish a technical verification. For example, the " aspirin campaign for 3Q2003 " would describe all the activity directed to making a batch of aspirin for 3rd quarter 2003, obtaining the raw materials (raws), scheduling the reactors and the people to operate them, then running the stages of the process, followed by the purification steps, formulation, finishing, etc., until the whole operation is complete and the product is " in hand " . It probably comes from a military context, or the agricultural one mentioned in other posts. In your case, I believe it means that they will methodically move through all operating units with some standardized testing to make sure that the SOPs are appropriately implemented. I would use simply 'weighing campaign' for 'Kampagnenverwiegung'. HTH,
Guest guest
Hallo Margaret and Astrid Astrid's reply made me curious - so I looked up " Kampagne " in the Duden Deutsches Universalwoerterbuch. Among the usual meaning (e.g., political campaign), I found this: 2. " Zeit, in der in einem von der Saison abhaengenden Unternehmen, in einem landwirtschaftlichen Betrieb die meiste Arbeit anfaellt: sie haben waehrend der Kampagne in der Zuckerfabrik gearbeitet " (...und da kann ich mich ploetzlich wieder an diesen Ausdruck erinnern, denn ich habe meine fruehe Kindheit nach dem Krieg auf einem Hofgut verbracht, wo die Zuckerruebenernte eine grosse Rolle spielte). Unfortunately, this doesn't seem to solve Margaret's problem, does it? Ursula
Guest guest
Hi , in my opinion your suggestion would not work ... what you are advocating would be Verwiegungskampagne. Then, perhaps a 'campaign weighing'. http://pd-net.propack-data.com/pdweb/inet.nsf/CategoryEN/E6EB7DF636A4B194C1256CF\ 000540BDB http://fp.novaweig.f9.co.uk/datasheets/Formulat.PDF http://www.totalpp.co.uk/page.cfm/Action=Press/PressID=129/t=m http://aurum2.dechema.de/achema2003/new/presse/aussteller_pms/xxC%20I%20DMS%20Pr\ ess%20Release%20May03.pdf I should have provided both English noun-cluster options, especially this second one which more closely parallels the German noun concatenation. Thanks for keeping me honest, Dee!
