Guest guest
Please let me know it sounds, interesting if he can do something. Keep in mind that you may see immediate improvemnts by avoiding the food but that doesn't mean cured. It will be interesting if the child after a reasonable period of time can eat everything like my children's do. and NO supplements to stay in balance with their health. My best . He is anallergist by background. I have read severeal impressive accountsof remarkable changes of some children under his care. Two curesthat I am aware of (his grandaughter and Christel King's son). Also a remarkable improvement in a severely affected older child, (see Melinda's account on this list). This is our last shot at a DAN doctor. If he does not make a major dent in improvements, I am done with DAN. Will move onto homeopathy and maybe stem cells. We have done almost everything DAN and then Yasko and even more holistic-wise, energy stuff for years, and although we have had improvements they have been slow. One thing Dr Baptist is very big on is food and environmentalallergens. I was leery to see him becasue I know that he will berestriting diet...... here we go again. Although I do suspect my son still has food issues. If uour kids are still autistic they likely have food issues, right? But we have never had environmental allergies tested. He did a skin panel, and was found to have numerousenvironmental allergies including dust mites, cats, differentpollens and plants and others. He wants to start him on allergyshots (there is no preservaive in the vials). I am wondering ifthis is a good idea or not. Toughnut moms? Anyone here done this?He also wants to avoid all food allergens he tests poorly toon skin (immediate reaction) and blood (delayed reaction) tests. Weare awaiting the blood tests, but skin testing showed allergies torice, potato, orange, soy, milk, peanut, mushroom, and yeast.Previous blood testing (a year ago) has shown delayed reactions toegg, gluten, and dairy. We will see what the present blood IgGtests show.I have already started a food rotation diet elimintaing thesefoods. It will be tough as we will have to rotate the remainingfood which are meat, poultry, fish, veggies, fruits, nuts, and somenongluten starches like corn, buckwheat, amaranth, quinoa, millet,gf oats, and beans. The rotation is tough because no food can beeaten more than every 4 days and this includes oils, spices, sweeteners, everything. I think even SCD is easier, because youdon't worry about rotation. But he says it is key to healing. Wehave not done a rotation diet since 2001 I think.Dr Baptist beleievs the reason for the allergies, and also viruses, lyme, yeast and bacteria overgrowth is plain for most - mercury. He believes until that is out, the body will always have immune issues. This is a common DAN thought of course. He starts with allergies/dietthough becasue he says if you can get the inflammatory load off theimmune system it makes for a smoother course for detox and somenatural healing can occur as a result. Okay got it. Just tired ofdiets after all these years. We even did NAET a loong time ago.Bottom line, it helped a little, but then all the allergies cameback.Anyway, I am posting to see if anyone has any thoughts on allergyshots, and also if anyone here has done a strict foodelimination/roation diet and what the results were. We will begiving up some favorites such as rice, potato, and sprouted bread,so I do hope it is worth it.Thanks,Beth
Guest guest
, I do not expect that dietary changes alone will cure - they just help take the load off the immune system; which is a big help. So I would hope to see improvments of an elimination/rotation diet. We did it once 7 years ago and it did help, but my son was a much more sever gut kid then and needed to be off all disaccharides. Of course our goal is recovery as was yours. But as you know there is not once thing that will do it. It is generally a combination of things. I am going to give the diet a 2 month trial - and reasssess. At least with this diet he will get a wide variety of foods and be off all processed foods, things like organic potato chips. I willl miss the rice and ezekila bread though. Guest guest
Beth, definitely rotating the things he eat and raw as possible will help him tremendously. because his guts are going to be exposed to little tiny beneficial FOS that he has never been. And those can fight back the bad ones he has. this theory I have has worked for me, and that was the reason I kept traveling with my son to other countries and making him eat folklore foods, the best ones of course where in Costa Rica, Ecuador and Mexico where the variety is unbelievable! and I did saw amazing improvements when you expose the children intestines to other things. that is why I don't preach diets of any kinds but proper way of eating and preparing the food just as WPF said, it really does a lot of seen. But if your son obviously reacts to some specific food of course you have to avoid it until you find the cause fix the problem to be able to reintroduce. But I do not believe in the DAN approach at all!!! Remove all foods and exchange for PILLS, this just doesn't make any sense to me. I wish you the best, and please let me know how this doctor solves your case and if he has any success, because the few families I am helping are haling their children gut issues and I am collecting data to hopefully putting in writing the steps to follow for success. . Guest guest
, Yes - I hear you and agree with you about the diet and varying it helping a lot. With the pending removal of rice, potato, tomato, orange, soy (we did not eat much of that but there was some sprouted soy in Ezekial bread), yeast (ditto in the ezekial bread), peanuts (occaisonal organic peanut butter) on top of the things we have already eliminated (wheat, eggs, dairy), it should be interesting. Thankfully my son is not a picky eater. Today at the co-op I picked up watercress and turnip - 2 new foods that have not been eaten ever in this household. On my list of new things to try are turnip, some new colllard greens, daikon radish, chinese cabbage, bok choy jicama, and other veggies. So yes, he will get exposure to some new foods and thus lots more variety, and new FOS as you said. Mostly what he will be eating are organic meats, poultry, and fish (salmon and shrimp tested for mercury), raw soaked nuts (I found an online source - saves time and labor) and their respective raw nut milks and raw nut butters, organic veggies of all sorts, and organic fruits, fresh, cooked, and dried. I have millet, buckwheat, gf oats, corn, quinoa, amaranth, and teff to play with and a couple starches like arrowroot and tapioca, to be able to make something like a pie crust or cookie on occaision. I will be rotating honey, agave, xylitol, and maple syrup as sweeteners. Stevia too if needed. The hard part about the diet above is the strict 4 day roation of food families. I am putting the allergy shots on hold until I research this more. Still hoping to see Dr Luc this summer, but we are doign Fastforward now so can't break away from it for a few months. (Has to be done 5 days in a row without a break). I am not into pumping a bunch of pills down. Whatever he recommends, we will have enrgy tested of course. But that alone (energy testing) has not been enough - we have tried. I still have homeopathy, stem cells in my hip pocket as things to try. Finding a good homepath is key, which is why I am trying to get to Dr Luc.
