Guest guest
Hi all, I received the e-mail below today from the organizer of the UK Misophonia (Sound Sensitivity) Support Group. For those of you who live in or near London, you might like to go and check out the Meetup he has planned for this Thursday. I live in New York and won't be able to go but I wanted to pass this along to those of you that can. Best, Subject: PLEASE READ – IMPORTANT MESSAGE FROM MISOPHONIA SUPPORT GROUP Date: Sunday, January 3, 2010, 7:50 PM Your Organizer, Guy, sent the following message to some members of UK Misophonia (Sound Sensitivity) Support Group: ---------------------------------------------------------------- Dear Misophonia Support Group member, I'm writing to you because your Meetup details say you are based in London (or within reasonable travelling distance). I have to say I'm a little disappointed at the number of people who have signed up for the Meetup on Thursday. This is such an important event for us, not only as it's our first, but also because it's so crucial to build support networks. As if that were not enough (!), I'm planning to announce some exciting misophonia initiatives and I would really like to discuss them with everybody, in real-life. I must say, if misophonia is half the problem people say it is [and of course I know it is, being a sufferer myself] I would have expected a much higher turn-out than we have at the moment. It is only by coming together and taking positive action that we can ever hope to have a cure or effective therapy for this terrible condition. Just think of all the people, particularly children, who are still suffering in silence because they have not had the good fortune to discover that their affliction has a name and they are not the only person in the world who is being driven to distraction with it. SO, PLEASE SIGN UP FOR THE MEET-UP ON THURSDAY UNLESS YOU REALLY CAN'T MAKE IT. Of course, if you have trigger-related concerns about the meeting, please let me know in good time and I will do my best to address them. On a different note, thank you for helping to make the Misophonia Support Group a success this year. Your support is very much appreciated. Many thanks and Happy New Year!!
