Guest guest
I didn't have any kefir on Fri. Sat we worked outside all day long in the 100* sun, clearing land, trimming trees and burning the stack of limbs from last weekend. Whew! I am still tired. Anyhoooo, I was deadly thirsty, so I made myself a kefir smoothie. I could tell my blood sugar was low from all the working outside - I was rather craving a smoothie by then! After lunch I made another. Sun morning I felt like I had eaten acid! My stomach was killing me and I had to work in the nursery at church. It just got worse till I finally left and didn't get to go to the church service. By afternoon I was feeling much better. I haven't dared have any today. ( In response to Terry's suggestions/questions---------------- Diluting: I've always used milkice (frozen raw milk cubes), raw milk, raw egg and kefir along with flavorings like vanilla or almond, etc. in all my smoothies so I'[ve always had them diluted. Processing: I make my kefir in the cabinet for about 10-12 hours, shaking gently now and then to recombine it all and letting out all the gas. I then move it to the frig...sometimes I strain it first, other times I let it do it's thing in the frig a while longer. I do not really notice a big difference in taste either way since I don't like it right out of the jar. I always have it diluted somewhat. I let one sit in the cabinet for longer one day last week, but I mixed it half and half with cream when we smoothied it. It was stronger smelling but the flavor was not really different to us. In response to Tonio-------------- I too am still struggling to get out of bed in the mornings and trying to find motivation throughout the day. (I still have my sense of humor as well, but it's starting to revolt!!) BTW, Tonio, what is the last part of your acronym ROTFLHOOC? I never realized I was so bad at these until this week I think I am going to have to lay off for a long time and see if there are any changes. All this lazy-butt stuff started the same time I started the kefir and I'd been feeling 157% since back in Jan or Feb with all my diet changes. Does this seem like a good plan? I wouldn't want to stop drinking it and stop all the good work the little guys are doing? Who knows, I may feel euphoric tomorrow? Right? No? ????? Looks like I might be moving into cheese making next week folks! I got my Rikki Carrol book yesterday anyway. What timing! BTW, my children are now 100% hooked on kefir so I'll still be making, just not partaking --- for a while. Thank you for all of your suggestions and help. I appreciate you all. ~wren <<Message: 20 << It's happening to me too. I started drinking real kefir about 2 months <<ago, EM 1 1/2 months ago, AND Kombucha 1 month ago. Guest guest
Wren-- Well. You've done all the intelligent things already. So if your Energy needs to be Up, I'd say laying off for awhile is a good idea, to let your body catch up on it's work. Maybe a schedule of every 4th day would be an easier transition for you. (Another buffer in your Smoothie recipe could be 1/2 banana.) You seem to have some Stamina if able to do all that heavy work... We all have pockets of latent infection, or spots of previous injury, and this is why the aches, pains, etc. Often strenuous Exercise helps work out the kinks via Circulation. I am very familiar with that burning sensation, but not as bad as you've described. Kefir never bothered me, but Kombucha and EM do. I'm coming out of it now, but this really started up in May when I got the EM from SCD World, so we're talking 3-4 months. But I also just got rid of a bunch of biliary stones. I'm very glad you've all shared so frankly. It's unrealistic to expect all Adults are going to take to this stuff like a duck to water. Same is true of Fermented Veggies. Children make the transition much easier and faster, unless they have ongoing physical problems, as your Natural Genius kids attest. So you just stick with RawMilk and Cheese, and see how fast you come out of this. I'm guessing a week without Kefir is probably about right, and then Go Slowly to find your Comfortable Dose. has LOTS of Experience with Kefir Drinks. And we need your input, O Diva of the Grains..... --Terry PS-- Tonio, there's just "No Hope" for intrepid Food Adventurers like you...lol. Guest guest
Hi Terry and Wren, Okay my input. Hmmmm. Well, I wasn't real sure about this one, because my body did take to it like a duck to water, so that's why I was hanging back. But I would like to know Wren, what is your recipe for kefir smoothies. Do you use fruit? Diva > has LOTS of Experience with Kefir Drinks. And we need your input, O Diva of the Grains..... > --Terry
Guest guest
Oh wait ummm...actually Wren, I see the recipe you use for you rkefir smoothies in an earlier post. Wonder if you were to use raw cream instead of milk, if that would help. The reason I asked about fruit was to see if that was causing extra acid in your tummy. Although I don't properly combine al the time, I do believe there is something to that idea. Fruit mixed with other things in your tummy can be acidic. I understand your wanting to law off it for a while. What happens when you drink raw milk straight? Do you get the same acidic feeling? I am sorry it is affecting you so. I can't imagine. > Hi Terry and Wren, > Okay my input. Hmmmm. Well, I wasn't real sure about this one, because my body did > take to it like a duck to water, so that's why I was hanging back.
