Is " peritroncal " " perimesencephalic " ?

" Peritroncal " is around the brainstem. " Perimesencephalic " is pretruncal.

Perimesencephalic (pretruncal) haemorrhage represents approximately 10% of all

cases of SAH. Blood is typically found in the cisterns around the midbrain and

anterior to the pons, without extension to the sylvian or interhemispheric

fissures.

Although the term " peritruncal " would seem to be perfectly comprehensible, it is

used more in embryology than in neurology and refers to the main axial blood

vessels of the body so I would say " cisterns around the brainstem " or something

of the sort.
