Welcome aboard everyone!

I think that you will appreciate this one from the Earthstores website,

certified by the National Indoor Air Quality Institute (NIAQI):

<http://www.earthstores.com/mold/> (see text below).

Let's hope that this group avoids such nonsense.

Does This Technology Produce Ozone? If not, what is it?

Oxygen, which comprises 22% of the Earth’s atmosphere, is a Diatomic

Molecule (O2) having two atoms. When lightning occurs, it produces an

enhanced oxygen molecule (O3) also known as

Ozone. This is nature’s way of combating harmful airborne contaminants.

Ozone (O3) generators typically work from an open spark principle and

can produce Oxides of Nitrogen (NO, NO2, N2O2), which are considered to

have harmful affects. However, the Corona discharge principle in the

Indoor Oxygen Therapy System is not an open spark type, the operating

temperature is significantly lower and it creates nearly pure Pentoxide

(O5 and higher) without any Oxides of Nitrogen. This advanced technology

has been effectively used to sterilize indoor

contaminants in hundreds of remediation projects. Through extensive

research, as well as independent studies, NIAQI confidently recommends

this approach to guarantee effective and safe remediation and prevention

in residential and commercial properties. "

If it walks like a rat and smells like a rat . . . I'd

rank this up there with the Ionic Beam 3000 and ilk (not its real name;

but I think folks know what I am talking about).

I thought the use of any item for purposes of sanitizing, disinfecting, pesticides, fungicides, etc. fell under FIFRA and required EPA approval? I did not know that the NIAQI had such authority?

I lloked at the site. Real interesting. You can purchase support from an IAQ professional on-line. That saves a lot of time from having to perform wasteful tasks like observing the conditions in the building, measuring parameters, evaluating HVAC sustems and most importantly going to the job site. It's a MIRACLE!!

Not sure if I'm mistaken by the posting but are you saying that " Oxygen

Pentoxide is Ozone & that it's not regulated as a biocide? If so who say's

it is a biocide.Could you explain who NIAQI is please.

Al,

I thought the same thing about O3 'shock' applications and spoke

with the Office of Prevention, Pesticides and Toxic Substances at

EPA.

Basically, there's a loop-hole in FIFRA: If the substance is

generated on-site, it falls outside the scope (since 'device'

approval isn't part of EPA's scope in this regard). Goofy if you

ask me...but that's how they get around it.
