Guest guest
Hello R, I never had to chelate my son. He WAS mercury impaired, but it seems that Vatlrex, diet and some vitamins and supplements did the trick. Oral DMSA can feed yeast. It has sulfur in it. This is why people try to stay away from oral DMSA. Valtrex can kick up yeast as we've seen, so doing both is probably an added risk. Additionally, I would NOT use metals detox agents during the healing regression. Lastly, DMSA and Valtrex have the tendency to lower white blood cell count (as do viruses, for example). So, if you were going to have them both onboard at the same time, I would make sure your doctor is in the loop and testing your child's wbc and liver enzymes just to be safe. - Stan > > Stan ( or anyone else), Do you think it is safe to chelate with oral > dmsa while using the valtrex? Guest guest
Hello R, I wanted to comment on your doctor's advice to not give vitamins and minerals on chelation days. I think this is very bad advice. For one thing, chelators cannot touch the vitamins, but chelating makes additional demands on the body which require additional vitamins, particularly the antioxidant ones. Chelation also demands more minerals, and if you are going to chelate for three days in a row, for example, your child's body will be seriously depleted of minerals. This is something you may want to investigate further. Perhaps read some reports from adults who have chelated, and you will see that proper supplementation is imperative. Also, although I'd chelated my son for approximately 20 rounds already, when I started him on a viral protocol (not Valtrex, but virastop, OLE, and lauricidin) it was very hard on him. I would not recommend to anyone to start these two things at the same time. If you want to do both, implement one and make sure you are very comfortable with it before starting the other and then consider going at a slower pace/lower doses than people who are only doing one. Here, our viral protocol kicked up FAR FAR more yeast than oral DMSA/ALA ever have. There was no comparison. Be sure you have a good yeast protocol in place. Best wishes, Anita > > Stan ( or anyone else), Do you think it is safe to chelate with oral > dmsa while using the valtrex? Did you do this with your son? Guest guest
Hi , His first diagnosis was at about 20 months. His last formal autism diagnosis was June of 2004 (age 3). We started biomed around the same time (after about 7 months of research) starting with testing, diet, vitamins and supplements per the test results and improving the diet based on test results and learning more about bacteria and fungus. (We started GF/CF and then moved to SCD less IGG Food allergies. This was across a three month learning curve about how GF/CF typically grows more fungus and bacteria based on replacing casein with rice and other complex sugars). I'm guessing at the next set of dates because I don't have all my videos in front of me but somewhere around August we started Valtrex and 21 days later he was dramatically improved. He was acting pretty much like a typical kid who had his head frozen for awhile and missed out on learning... rather than an autistic child. His autistic looking behaviors seemed gone. He progressed quickly for about 9 months... plataued for a few weeks and that's when we decided to take him off the Valtrex and he continued to develop from there. You can see Ethan's Recovery on www.recoveryvideos.com I have so much video of before and after on Ethan. I'll be publishing more soon so people can see where he is today as he approaches 5 years old in June. Valtrex, especially on paper, is a lot more benign than metals detox IMO... and in most people's opinion. I've also seen many metals detox kids who do better and even " recover " but still have stimmy autistic signs... that bothered me. I also tried DMSA myself, one round, and I felt like I wanted to kill myself. I always try what I am going to give my son, on myself. I think it's only fair. That's what caused me to think about antivirals before metals detox and I'm quite glad I did because we never had to use a metals detox agent. I'm not judging anyone's decision, I'm just telling our story and my beliefs. I like using most productive and least invasive methods first before taking greater risk. That's why I started with Valtrex and thankfully I never had to put a metals detox agent in my child. I know you're just getting started in our group and I can certainly remember what it was like getting up to speed. I don't want to come off as imposing my views on you. I respect any parent's decision and almost all views and approaches are welcome here (I don't want to say all... just in case) so don't think I judge all that much... I'm just sharing my experience and view so that I know at least the information is out there. I would have wanted that when I was getting up to speed. - Stan > > > > Stan ( or anyone else), Do you think it is safe to chelate with oral > > dmsa while using the valtrex? Guest guest
I'm not a metals detox expert, but I've never heard of a every other day Oral DMSA protocol. Usually it's 2 days on and 11 or 12 off for the body to catch up. Also, be very careful of yeast when using oral DMSA. Candida itself can cause autism and Oral DMSA can feed candida. I would hope that the doctor at least prescribes an antifungal (like Diflucan or Amphotericin B.... not Nystatin, IMO) and probiotics if you are trying DMSA. You may also want to get an OATS urine test now (Great Plains or Doctors Data) and again after a month on DMSA to see how you are doing with yeast and bacteria... and metabolic function. Again, not an expert on this, but I think these are sensible suggestions if you are going to do metals detox first. - Stan > > > > We are going to do the chelation every other day. > > -----Original Message----- > > From: mb12 valtrex > [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On > > > > > > >
Guest guest
I'm getting the impression that perhaps you're not interested in the opinion of someone who is not an MD on this matter of chelation, but I would strongly encourage you to research the advice of your doctor. I've read many negative reports from people who have used the kind of chelation protocol you are being advised to use. An every other day dosing of DMSA does not take into account the half life of the chelator. Every other day dosing of vitamins and minerals does not take into account that chelators cannot touch vitamins, that chelation causes oxidative stress, and that the body can only absorb so many vitamins (particularly the water soluble ones) and minerals at once. Again, I would encourage you to read some reports from people who have chelated using protocols similar to the one you're describing before you choose to use this one for your child. Guest guest
I would say that neither are good. Since this is off-topic for our group here (chelation schedules, etc) I would encourage you to join autism mercury http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/Autism-Mercury/ where you can get lots of feedback on this kind of thing. In fact, I just answered a question very much like this one there. I would be very happy to provide you with lots of details there :-) About the candex: I just started using it about a month ago and it is my very favourite antifungal. Other than the price (here in Canada lots of $$$) it is pretty much perfect. Easy to dose (although you need to do it on an empty stomach, it doesn't taste bad like many of the antifungals). Yeast cannot become tolerant of it. Works very well. I hope to see you at autism-mercury. There you'll be able to gather a great deal of information that will help you make the best decision for you about chelation. Guest guest
I have a slightly different question. Has anybody done anitbiotics and valtrex at the same time? We are battling strep (PANDAS) and need to use antibiotics for some time. We also want to attach viruses at the same time (to see whether PANDAS synptoms are gettig triggered by virus's or bacteria/fungi) -Kajuk --- Anita Kugelstadt wrote: > I would say that neither are good. Guest guest
Hi , You may want to also join the chelatekids2 group if you are just getting started with metals detox. As far as yeast there are a number of things you can use. Candex does help some. Personally, I've not enjoyed seeing it used because of the diarrhea it causes.
