Dear IEQuality List Members,

Please note that the AIHA International Affairs Committee will be hosting a

videoconference on 'Health Effects of Non-Ionizing Radiation' on August 24,

2004 in the afternoon (14:30 - 16:30 EDT). Once we have worked out all the

details I will send an announcement to the list as you should be able to

view the videoconference live (view-only option) using a RealPlayer software

over a regular (commodity) Internet. The video-stream will be archived for

later viewing.

Although I do not expect that our 90-minute presentation by three speakers

will address any specific concerns, it should provide us with a good

overview and current framework.

Sincerely,

Cutz

to it as we go along. Please feel free to contribute information resources

and websites. Visit: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/NIR_Group/

Thank you, Cutz, CIH

,

I would appreciate it if you would be more specific about the

conditions which you found which caused the problems. I find this

discussion group to be very informative and a good source for me to

learn a lot of useful information. Thus, the request for additional

information.

Thanks,

Ron

All I know about people at this point in time is that their responses are

highly variable and cannot be described simply. Too bad that most doctors

and most medical researchers do not seem capable of dealing with

distributions of responses and insist that all patients respond at a median,

not over a full spectrum.

On resonant frequency in the human body and electromagnetic fields:

While the human body is outside my field of expertise as a computer

designer, it seems to me that the way a neuron fires ( " on " for 5

milliseconds or so, followed by a period when it can't fire until it

accumulates enough supplies to do so) would lend itself to a resonance at

around 60Hz if the accumulate-supplies period was in the neighborhood of

11-12 milliseconds. That period is not well characterized and would

certainly vary by individual.

Also, since firing a neuron consumes neurotransmitters and the substances

which remove them from synapses (for example, acetylcholine and

acetylcholinesterase), an electrical resonance which caused a large number

of neurons to fire repeatedly could deplete the substances they use,

either locally or across the whole body, in a manner similar to the immune

system depleting them in anaphylaxis. This would be similar to an

electronic circuit consuming more power than the nearby decoupling

capacitors could supply in a milliseconds timeframe, or simply more than

the power supply could provide.

Again, this is a conceptual hypothesis, and outside my field of expertise.

Jim,

Many years ago, when they reduced the speed limit to 55 mph. I

remember reading a study where people were exposed to the low

frequencies simulating 35,45, 55, 65 and 75 mph.

Interesting, the study authors reported that people felt sick more often

when exposed to the frequencies at 55 mph as compared to higher and lower

speeds.

Is it possible that 60 hz induces some low frequency harmonic in the

human anatomy similar to the above study?
