Guest guest
My son only had high EBV levels, and valtrex has definitely helped him. After only 2 weeks, he is more talkative and energetic, and much more engaged with us. We have not seen any regression on it, though it may still happen! The only negative I've seen is that his attention was worse the first week or so. > > > > Hi - > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
Hi Stan - Thank you for replying! I put in a call to my DAN! and left a message requesting Valtrex. I figure it is worth trying out. We have put our son on Lauricidn, OLE, Mycoimmune, Larch Arabinogalactans, IP-6 and a lot of immune support in general for close to a year (he is 3.9 yo). I was tempted to just do the herbals, but I just have this " feeling " that there might be other hidden viruses as well, which bothers me enough to do a trial of Valtrex. You just never know. hank you so much for your insight and for this website - it really does offer a great deal of information on " another piece of the autism puzzle " , and an important one at that. Thanks again - I'll let you know if my DAN! approves the Valtrex. Elaine > > > > Hi - > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
My doctor just prescribed valtrex and cortef for my 3.5 asd son. My dan dr. doesnt believe in this method. He said that the steroids are horrible for them. We are only suppose to use the cortef for 21 days, I didnt think that was to long. We have been of valtrex and cortef for about 5 days now. At first my son got a rash on his face for the first couple of days and then it went away. He also got very hyper. Is this all normal? My dan wont work with me if I continue to use the cortef and valtrex. I dont know what to do. Can someone please shed some light on this. We never got my son tested for viruses, the doctor just put him on it. Thanks, R. -----Original Message-----From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On Behalf Of rossandelaineSent: Thursday, February 23, 2006 6:43 PMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: EBV - Valtrex and Other Anti-Virals?Hi Stan -Thank you for replying! Guest guest
Hi Stan, Would you jump on the valtrex for high IgG titers for EBV or for IgM. I was under the understanding that IgM is indicative of active infection and that IgG was memory to past infection? Have I got this wrong? My son also has elevated IgG to EBV 309 ref<100, varicella zoster 157 ref 0-100 and rubeola 150 ref 0-100. Would these suggest he would benefit from anti-virals and if so should I start with the valtrex or go for the naturals first? With many thanks On 23/02/06, Stan Kurtz <kurtzstan@... > wrote: If you see high EBV titers (which is a herpes virus) I would jump on Valtrex.- Stan > > Hi -> > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
Hi , That worsening fo attention for the first week or so sounds like a healing-regression to me. - Stan > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
Yes, please keep us posted. You're not the only one who wants to stay as natural as possible when it comes to therapies with good reason, but I have seen some people make the mistake of being absolute about this. Some medications are good and the western medicine establishment isn't entirely evil. We should keep that in mind as we look for the best therapies for our child. Yes, I look at medications as a last resort, but if a medication might be the best method of therapy (at this time), I think we should consider it. - Stan > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
Wow. I love this story. I typical doc who Rx'd Valtrex and a steroid and a DAN! who is against it. Talk about role reversal. I have no experience with Cortef, but I'm a personal fan of cortisone for inflamation. If it were my child, I would continue on the Vatlrex and Cortef (cortef for 21 days). I don't see any harm in 21 days of it, but remember, I'm not a doctor. I assume your DAN! is upset about the cortef? Is he/she upset about the Valtrex? Who is this DAN! doc... I'm curious. Yes, some children get hyper on Valtrex at first, but not a large amount. the Cortef might be masking discomfort some people feel during the healing-regression and your child is just getting an energy burst from improvement of methylation or viral supression... It's hard to say for sure since we have so little data on Cortef and Valtrex (basically your post). Keep us posted. I'm quite intrested. - Stan > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Everything was > normal > > > except for EBV which was 394 (ref.range <100 for IGg). Guest guest
One more thing: Our pediatrician did NOT have an issue with Valtrex. This doc is very conservative and I really expected a fight but he just said, " Valtrex? It won't help your child but it's a benign therapy and if you want to try it go ahead. " So, I know there are at least some peds out there that would be open to Valtrex, but your story of a ped leading the way and a DAN! trying to hold you back is quite unique. - Stan > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
I would do Valtrex. Herpes virsues are really tricky and additionally we have many documented recoveries using Valtrex and I have seen natural antivirals help but certainly not as many recoveries from Valtrex. Additionally, we haven't had anyone with any long- term issue from taking Valtrex so it seems quite safe. I would start with Valtrex. - Stan > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Everything was normal > > > except for EBV which was 394 (ref.range <100 for IGg). Guest guest
cAN Anyone tell me why the first couple of days we did valtrex, my son was hyper. And now on the 5 th day he is calm as a cucumber and it is in the evening. Guest guest
Hi R, There are too many possibilities to guess accurately from here but one possibility is that Valtrex improved your child's methylation and it took a few days for the rest of the cycle to catch up. - Stan > > > > > > > > Hi - > > > > > > > > I just got back my son's herpes virus titers. Guest guest
, This group is only a few months old, so the stories you will see here are pretty receint but very significant. We have 48 pages of reports in the " files " section of this group which is on the left side of the page when you are logged into the group. Just click " files " and the first file will be the Valtrex Reports. Guest guest
cAN Anyone tell me why the first couple of days we did valtrex, my son was hyper. And now on the 5 th day he is calm as a cucumber and it is in the evening. Thanks, R. cant answer your question but im very happy for you as my son is so hyper he almost bounces off the walls! he is almost 9 yrs old and i have tried practically everything. i suppose that when you first gave your son the valtrex, the hyperness was perhaps the viruses being disturbed and activated. something like that. if it only lasted a wk, your son's body apparently adjusted quickly. sounds like you have a good responder there! vicki
Guest guest
Thankyou! He is no longer hyper but I am seeing a change in his moods and he has some skin sensitivites. I have not seen any gains yet and this is our 12th day. -----Original Message-----From: mb12 valtrex [mailto:mb12 valtrex ]On Behalf Of vickila1@...Sent: Saturday, March 04, 2006 8:45 AMTo: mb12 valtrex Subject: Re: Re: EBV - Valtrex and Other Anti-Virals? cAN Anyone tell me why the first couple of days we did valtrex, my son was hyper.
