Hi--well if she likes juice, have her try the Plum Smart juice since it is supposed to help with constipation issues per their advertising of the ingredients in it. Give that a try. You might try out some different brands of bottled water because it could be that the taste of the water at your house tap doesn't appeal to her. My parents and I both have the same water company, but for whatever reason, whether it is the pipes or what, THEIR water TASTES better than ours. It is smoother and just tastes better. Drinking water at my house, feels like a tedious task to me--for myself. I don't like the taste of it. But at their house--yum. So give a few different types of bottled water a try-- maybe she'll respond better. As far as the dependency on the enema's... the thing is, if their body would work, they wouldn't ask for it, really.... there does not seem to be any evidence for physical

dependency...some mental dependency on it could be created but we went through this with both my kids, and it wasn't until I got the stool soft enough, and established the sit time to help them train their bowels to work, that it was obvious to them that they didn't need that anymore--they just went. After browsing that soilingsolutions.com website I see that his protocol does involve use of glycerin suppositories and enema's, and he does talk about a lot of success with his protocol, and in private emails he has said that his protocol is gaining more use, particularly by docs who have those kids that aren't responding to the softeners like miralax or lactulose. So it makes me intrigued to buy the darn book just to see what it is all about! But I do think that a solution needs to still have enough liquid and something to soften the stool a bit because with my dd, she was NOT having normal soft stools....they

were pellets, dark and hard and tiny, and all that does is get backed up in the system. She definitely needs some things to keep the stools more normal looking. W jbnewson06 wrote: I suppose that does make sense, that if the colon is stretched out (which undoubtedly, after a year, it is!) that it takes a lot more for things to move the right way.I hadn't heard of BabyLax or Oxy Powder until joining this board. I plan to

check those out and probably give them a try.As for W's suggestions - we do occasionally use enemas when she's gone quite a few days with no bowel movement. Sometimes I think she may be dependant on them - is that possible? When she's having a rough day and sitting on the potty is going nowhere, she'll sometimes start saying she really really wants "water in the bum" as we call it. I have tried backing off on the amount we put in, to see if she would still respond to just a little bit, but that ends up with her just expelling the liquid and not the stool.I haven't tried just the MoM over just the herbal formula. Mostly because I feel better about the herbs than the MoM. But if the herbs aren't working for her alone anyway, I suppose MoM alone would be worth a shot!Another thing with Melinda - she's not great at her liquid intake. When she was younger, she'd carry around a sippy cup with her all

day, drinking almost constantly, but nowdays, she doesn't. I've tried "scheduling" her drinking time, and sitting down with her and making her concentrate on drinking, but not only is it extremely tedious to me (she takes the teeniest tiniest sips!!!), but it's hard to keep up with when our daily schedule varies with outings. The only thing she's reliable about drinking a lot of is juice, and from what I understand, she really needs to keep up the water more so than the juice for her bowel health. Anyone have any neat tricks for getting their child to drink water?> >> > We just started using Dr. Schulze's Intestinal Formula 3. It is a > pediatric formula for kids with severe constipation.
