the boy i work with makes my day daily. i know it is most likel his asd, but he seems to sense when adults are tense, and all of a sudden he burts out with odd things, my favorite is ( ungaurda liviosa) i know i spelt it wrong, but it comes from harry potter, then he breaks into his english accent and starts talkinh in harry potter, meanwhile watching the adults faces, the more we enjoy, the more he gets into it.

it may be part of his disorder, but it is sooo welcome in our school people will actually stop him just to play tickle or odd word games with him. like no inhibitions. it is such a gift, i dont ever want it to stop!

laughter therapy in school day?

Hi,perhaps we should have a laughter therapy time as part of a typical school day, special ed day.The release of endorphins is different based on each individual. Certain foods such as chocolate and chili peppers can lead to enhanced production of endorphins. Laughter is thought to release endorphins into the brain. Strenuous exercise, exposure to ultraviolet light, massage therapy, and acupuncture can also activate endorphin production.Does anyone know of studies in laughter therapy for asd spectrum?Do your kids on the spectrum laugh daily? Thanks,Tishanne

LOL,even being rocked like a baby releases those crazy endorphines.

Maybe thats why some of our kids like to rock so much. Walking sounds

easier, chocolate could show up in other places, lol. Do it in

reverse, walking backwards your coordination improves and it benefits

the brain, plus burns twice the calories of walking forwards. Better

to do with a buddy for safety of course. When all else fails, hit the

chocolate bar,lol.

Hugs,smiles

I swear I have so many symptoms...My OT cracks up at me and tells me I'm the one who should be getting tested for sensory processing disorder. LOL...I adore to rock, love to get brushed with that goofy therapy brush...love it when my elder child rolls the big exercise ball over me...we do it to and he ADORES the pressure.......I get dizzy just thinking about an elevator.....................I could go on and on........

LOL,I live in a resort town,I worked pizza delivery{good tips}for

friends. Lots of hotels and elevators right! I short out elevators

all the time so I take the stairs, good for the buns too.LOL It even

happened at the hospital elevator, full of people. I touched the

button and shorted it out. I forwarned everyone, joking. They all

laughed until I touched that button. Everyone looking at me with huge

eyes,I couldn't stop laughing. In our town the elevator repair guy

got alot of work. I still laugh when I see his van or an out of order

sign. Everyone knows me for that spark, lol.

Laughing,

i am guessing that is meant to be a good thing?

i don't believe in the word disabilility, i forget how the blind girl phrased it but i think it was differntabilities.

as she could do things reg ed couldn't .

Re: laughter therapy in school day?

> it may be part of his disorder, but it is sooo welcome in our schoolThe idea that nothing good can come out of a disability is nonsense, as your post shows.Ettina
