Guest guest
----- Forwarded Message ---- Hello everyone, The insurance bill, HB 2714, is currently " in committee " (Insurance Committee). This bill is sponsored in the House by Rep. (Houston). The bill seeks to change the insurance code regarding speech and hearing benefits to require coverage as a mandated option without limits or exclusions. This language in the bill means that, for group insurance policies that offer speech and hearing benefits, coverage would be the same as for any other physical illness, injury, or condition: without limits and/or exclusions. These benefits are considered a mandated " option " , which means that employers must choose the option in order to have the coverage. Currently, employers who choose the benefits as a mandated option have the option to select " alternative benefits " or typically, limits and/or exclusions for speech and hearing benefits.
