Guest guest
I'll post this to the group too as it may help others. With the prescription you were given, you first send a copy of it to your insurance to be sure it authorized for payment. (If you have insurance and IF you need preauthorization). When you are sure you are covered, you call an orthotics office (look in yellow pgs or ask your local primary who to call) and schedule an appt. They will measure your neck, etc and then fit you for the correct collar. It is not something you can buy at a drugstore. I suppose you could buy one over the internet, but you really need to be sure that you have a correct fit, which cannot be done by just buying one online. This is very important. The orthotist may not have your size in stock and may have to order it, which takes a day or two, then you go back in, you are fitted and you walk out with your brand new, latest fashion, in vogue neckwear!! Keep your chin up! But not too far!! Guest guest
I had a second decompression surgery and fusion to C5 8/06. I was told to use the Aspen collar when in an airplane or car for six months, mainly for protection. I still wear it when I have to ride in a car for long distance.
