In elementary school my child had adaptive P.E. In middle school, due to the same reasons you mentioned and the fact that the school could not reassure us that she would be safe, she was ARDed out of P.E. and was able to choose another elective, like choir, art and computers. In her I.E.P., we also included as part of the reasons for not electing P.E. was that she participated in other outside school activities. Anyone have any experience they can share dealing with public school

and the physical education requirements? P.E. is a constant source of

frustration and failure for our son. It noisy, disorganized and

unprediectable. Many of the activities require coordination, social

cues, etc. I would actually prefer that he not have P.E. at all. We

have much more pressing issues to work on and this bi-weekly reminder

of how different he is is not helping anyone. Any experience or ideas

are welcome.
