Guest guest
Hello MTers, A report describing a patient's ability to move freely following a fracture includes the expression " Schürzen-, Nacken- und Überkopfgriff sind durchführbar " . It's clear that these refer to specific arm movements - I've found " Retroversion des Oberarmes " as a definition of the first - but is there a " group " expression covering all three in English to match the German structure? Any thoughts appreciated, as always. Purdy Translation from W. Guest guest
Did you not get any answers on that one? I have not researched anything now and could not help you on the first term but for the other two: couldnt you just use: movements of arm to touch back of neck (with the hand/ or to grab (?) back of neck..) and to reach above the head are possible...?? there might be better expressions out there, I just noticed that at least on MT there were no answers, I wanted to research and answer earlier today only but its been a crazy day once more so this is just an attempt (from a native German speaker) good luck Isabelle TERM DE>EN Schürzen-, Nacken- und Überkopfgriff Hello MTers, A report describing a patient's ability to move freely following a fracture includes the expression " Schürzen-, Nacken- und Überkopfgriff sind durchführbar " . Guest guest
Hi Isabelle, Thanks for your message; I would have thought that these referred simply to ability to touch the buttock area and neck and reach above the head, but it seems that there's more to it than that. From the PT_ list I have got " lift-off test " for Schürzengriff, while Nackengriff seems to be a deep squat with the hands on the neck, but I am still drawing a blank on Überkopfgriff. Since the definitions/translations don't lend themselves to easy derivation from the German terms, I'm hesitant to hazard a paraphrase of my own without confirmation. If anyone's able to offer anything further on the last of these terms, that would be great.
