Guest guest
Thanks for your reply, and after rereading my post, if I've offended anyone in the medical community on this board, I apologize. This was simply my opinion and experience. I like how you put it, "Doctors and nurses need to take a step back and realize that our patients are better educated..." That's exactly what it is! From: miralax [mailto:miralax ] On Behalf Of betsyconnersmommySent: Sunday, November 18, 2007 10:59 PMTo: miralax Subject: Re: frustrated !!!!! I'm a former Medical assistant. And i have to say that your sister's attitude is one i've come across again and again. To listen to the doctors and not to question. I'm sorry but that is a wrong attitude to have. I'm a huge advocate of being your first advocate to your (and your children's ) health. Ask questions, cause even though docs go to school for many many years, they donnot have all the answers. The ones that actually say to you "It is your body, you know it better than I, you tell me what's wrong" are hte doctors that are worth they weight in gold! There's a saying in the medical community that needs to be stopped. It is "When you hear hoof beats thing horses not zebras". But maybe looking for the zebras is what is needed sometimes. Always treating everyone the same, this "one size fits all" medical advice is wrong. Doctors and nurses need to take a step back and realize that our patients are better educated and know a great deal more about how the body works. That needs to be respected, needs to be listened to! Another saying in the medical community is "don't be a lumper, be a splitter" this means that most docs split up symptoms instead of trying to lump it all together to find a diagnosis for a problem that effects multiple systems in teh body. Doctors need to be lumpers! > > >> >>> > >> >> I am so frustrated !!!! Guest guest
I actually cant read all the post on this subject(hope Im on the write track), but wanted to mention that I have learned to trust MOM's instincts more! My son is non verbal, I have learned to listen closely to his motions, sounds etc. When my son had an allergic reaction to his vacs, ended in hospital that day....screamed, headbanged, scratched for months daily. I knew his gi was damaged(his stomach cavity didnt close completely as fetus and I was able to connect the behaiviour to seeing movements through his gi)! I still had a couple of doctors say this was mental and wanted to medicate on psych drugs(befor that dreadful day(vac reaction) he was the calmest, happiest little boy), I told them it was out of the question, His behaiviour is telling me he is in pain. No meds!!!!! One doctor didnt like that to well. Finally got a doctor to listen somewhat and once they started focusing on the gi, this behaiviour slowed over time. Most healing has been do to mom and my mad researching and great groups like this. We do need to trust our instincts even over professionals! Jennie<>< > > > >> >> > > > >> >> I am so frustrated !!!! Guest guest
Well, I'm not too happy with Vitacost these days. I got that $10 rebate and evidently they signed me up for some kind of shopping club and they charged my credit card monthly !!! I won't order from them anymore. Sorry about messing up your $10 !!!! Can you give some short good info. on Vitamin K2? Thanks ! Re: frustrated !!!!! Thorne from here http://www.totalhealthdiscount.com/, so you can start with 1mg via the dropper.BUT -- since your daughter is older, you could probably go directly to Carlson's K2 (5mg) I get mine from vitacost. Link through ebates for another 4% off. Use this code as a referral and you and I both get $10. www.ebates.com/refer-a-friend/signup/holidaybonus/index.htm?id=2372446 > >> >>> >> >> I am so frustrated !!!! Guest guest
Hi LeeAnn, I'm going to need some more CLO pretty soon and want to try the brand you like, but noticed there are many kinds on that site. Which one do you recommend? Are you giving a high dose and what are you using for Vitamin D? Thanks and Merry Christmas to all !!! Kathy H. > COD LIVER OIL -- Most kids who have had constipation issues are > deficient in Vitamin A and D -- and the only safe way to get these > is with High Quality cod liver oil. Guest guest
I've been using the fermented cod liver oil capsules lately http://www.greenpasture.org/products/fermented-oil/1044 . Earlier this year I used the Blue Ice Gold - both are good. I add 2 little tablets of chlorella with it -- just in case. I know that they say that most cod liver oil is mercury free -- but just in case I add the chlorella. Besides the chlorella is a very mild chelator and helps to stimulate neuron growth -- so I figure it'a a win win. I also use Carlson Cod Liver Oil Super - which costs a lot less! Right now I'm trying to have my son get about 12,000 A and 1200 D from the CLO and another 100 D3 from other supps. By building up his vitamin A we were able to tackle viruses and that lead to big gains. Merry Christmas. Santa is a little lean at our house this year. Too many supplement $! > > Hi LeeAnn, > I'm going to need some more CLO pretty soon and want to try the brand you > like, but noticed > there are many kinds on that site. Which one do you recommend? Guest guest
I'm using Carlson and purchased cheaply from iherb. But one tsp= 700-1200 mg. Noticed the green pastures has much higher doses.............is that safe to give daily ? Am also giving two small gel caps of Vitamin D3 by Country Life that is a total of 800 IU of D. Yes, I had to set a budget on Christmas too.................most of my extra money goes straight to the credit cards ! Guest guest
Here's a good reference on Vit A and D levels. I think the higher doses have helped my son's gut heal and even reduced some sensory issues. > >> > >> Hi LeeAnn, > >> I'm going to need some more CLO pretty soon and want to try the > > brand you > >> like, but noticed > >> there are many kinds on that site.
