It is always best to use pasteurised (heated to killing the resident culture) vinegar. > I know it had the 'mother' kind of slime in it ... That's normal. > ... tastes pretty good. Great! Is this normal and ok? Does everyone here > leave it out for a few days before refrigeration? Isn't that just > fermenting it further? If you want a fizzier drink, you need to bottle the KT in pressure resistant fizzy drinks bottles, or better still, in glass bottles with either screw tops, corks or the beugel swing top kind of fastening (brilliant!). Whether you leave it out of the fridge or put it in the fridge, the KT is likely to form another membrane/scoby/new culture/ or beginnings of jelly blob culture in or on the KT. Remember, it's a liquid ALIVE! It's easy to strain it out the same way as you strain out tea-leaves. > LAST: Does anyone have experience with using Kombucha on small dogs?? I don't have dogs myself, but there have been many mentionings about Kombucha cultures/KT/dried K cultures as chews being beneficial for dogs. If your dog likes it, try him on it. Kombucha has a very good effect on the 'waterworks' and is also detoxing and anti-stones. People use a little KT added to the dog's water.
