Go on line a buy a book called Understanding Autism through RPM by Soma

Mukhopadhyay. It is likely that your son's flapping is a calming stim.

There are other ways to communicate rather than to talk.

I would recommend the book " Overcoming Autism " by Lynn Koegel. The

chapter on communication could be very helpful for speech therapy. I

think that the methods described in this book are excellent, and it's

very easy to follow.

There are certainly other ways to communicate too...PECS and being

other options too.
