mold on scoby

I have only been culturing kombucha for a few weeks. I was given two

scobies initially and I have maintained them in separate batches.

I've been brewing them in sun tea jars and have used excess KT to ensure

acidity (I use a digital scale and weigh my inputs to be accurate).

My best scobies (I was given 1 large one and one small one) are in the

particular batch that I speak of. Some mold developed on the floating

scoby. No signs of mold on the two scobies that were not floating.

I have removed and discarded the small floating scoby that had mold. (was

fuzzy and on close examination was mold).

I have set aside the KT from that vessel separate from the remaining

scobies.

Now in this particular batch or vessel I was trying to brew continuously

taking advantage of the sun tea jar so the jar was not cleaned between

brews. The same muslin cover was also used.

In retrospect its probably better for me to change the cover each time and

use a clean vessel.

What should I do with the remaining scobies that were in the vessel with the

contaminated one? They are my biggest. My spare is quite small.

What should I do with the KT from that vessel?

Keep in mind that I don't have a lot of spare KT or scobies.

thanks,

Sid...
