Guest guest
Tishanne. Teachers need to be trained in Autism first, and then they will be able to help all children who have disabilities (and some who don't). Problem is that most teachers (even some special ed), until now, haven't had the avenue in which to train. WE have knowlege regarding Autism now, and my hope is that it will change. Remember even 10 yrs ago they didn't have the awareness that we do now (you have a 10 yr old, so I know you know). If trained to handle ASD they are trained for it all. e To: AutismBehaviorProblems Sent: Friday, October 31, 2008 1:40:00 AMSubject: Interesting comments, iep retraint info .. Guest guest
Hi e,you are so right. Part of the problem is that special ed teachers or teachers and staff in general are not required to have autism training. I hope this continues to change. Awareness is the key. Even some book learned teachers, counselors ect. can't believe the real life behaviors or deal effectively one on one. It depends on the person. I hope persons who want to enhance a asd students life keep entering the field. Perhaps some autism training or knowledge will become a requirement since the asd student population is growing. I think asd special schools are another option that needs to be available. Parents really benefit by the break of a school day as well and need some peace of mind instead of " ring, ring, stress, ring, stress " lol. Best wishes, Tishanne > > Tishanne. Guest guest
I wish I had kept the quote I read regarding a church...they had a special ed outreach...all their "teachers" were trained in how best to help those with ASD...With that training they were then able to help all kiddos...cerebral Palsy, Palsy, Down Syndrome, etc. They constructed their program around helping Autistic kiddos, and now they have a huge special ed department filled with lots of different learning kids. Everybody's happy. I do think it will get better Tishanne...I sincerely do. I just wish we had some of the knowlege we do now when your kids were little...God bless the mom's who have tread this path before us. You all had the hard job Much love to you and Pat and the others...thanks for teaching us, and listening to us. God bless. e --------------------------------------------------------------------------------To: AutismBehaviorProblems Sent: Friday, October 31, 2008 11:42:29 AMSubject: Re: Interesting comments,IEP retraint info Hi e,you are so right. Guest guest
Hi Stacie, hope its good news! You have been so busy. I hope you are feeling better. If you haven't cured the flue try this,it works everytime. Drink a large can of v-8 and a large can of chicken broth, standard type. Heat the broth first. If you can drink those, 1 whole can of each in the first 0- 12hrs of flue symptoms. It will activate all sorts of good body reactions that will combat the flue. You will not even get more then 24hrs of flue,if that. I have been doing this for years with excellent results. Everyone I know that trys it says the same thing. There are medical reasons that science explains, but think " grandma " knew best, science is catching up!
