"then the milk seemed to clump up and chunksfloated on the top after we stirred it, as well as floating on top of my cupof coffee too."

I notice that our milk does this when I freeze it and then thaw it. Maybe the temperature setting is too cool in the fridge or the moisture control has something to do with the temp too?

I know some members have said that you can freeze milk, but ours gets little chunks of fat it in after it has thawed, and the fat then clumps around the top of the container. The milk still tastes great, but you look at little chunks of fat floating in your glass:-( I mostly use the thawed milk for smoothies. Surprisingly the kids haven't noticed yet when I hand them a glass of chocolate milk with tiny fat chunks floating in it!

These clumps are in my coffee, too, but when it sits for a minute, they dissolve and I can see little fat beads in the coffee. Is yours melting?

I wish I could find a milk source closer rather than my co-op that is in my area only once every 4 weeks! It is definitely better than nothing though!

I've never had problems with freezing my milk, however I do have a

tendency to shake it really well not only before each glass, but also

while it is thawing. How are you thawing the milk? I don't know if that

might make a difference.

"How are you thawing the milk?"

I try to let it set on the counter for a couple or few hours. After I refrigerate it, it takes days to thaw all the way. In the meantime, I use what is thawed if I need to. I don't shake it- maybe I should. Also, the milk is usually very creamy, maybe that has something to do with it? Maybe I should shake it so that the fat dissolves at the same rate the water does?

It's not recommended to thaw it outside of the fridge, but I've done it

before with no ill effects, however I do recommend shaking it the cream

tends to thaw quicker than the milk at least in my experience so the first

glass or two will be rich and creamy and then the last part that melts

will be more skimmed down. Plus the shaking tends to make it thaw a lot

quicker.
