Actually, I bought a lot of that ribbon several years ago for making pins for our schools. I still have alot left. JoAnn Fabric has been selling the ribbon for years, saw it there about 2 weeks ago. Guest guest
The autism community needs more tools to get our message out to the public at large. I think wearing a white ribbon similar to the pink ribbon for breast cancer or the red ribbon for hiv/aids would be a very easy, inexpensive and effective way to put the issue of the autism epidemic on a lot more people's minds. The ASA has the " puzzle piece " ribbon, but where are you going to get a ribbon with puzzle pieces on it? You can get white ribbons anywhere. And the color white represents the innocence of the babies and toddlers struck by this horrible disease. Spread the word, and spread white ribbons for autism epidemic awareness! Guest guest
Why White? Many autism groups sell puzzle ribbons as fundraisers. FOX sportscasters have worn the puzzle ribbon on their broadcasts. The puzzle ribbon itself is supposed to be readily available at most of the major fabric stores. There are also small ceramic/metal puzzle pins available. Maybe you are new to this whole Autism Awareness game but there is no need to reinvent the wheel.... One place to order the metal pin is www.autismillinois.org And while you are searching around don't forget your " I Love Someone with AUTISM " bumper stucker and button. There are multiple places to get them as well (including thru me-proceeds got to my ASA Chapter)) L. Guest guest
White has been already used for another charity, I can't remember which. Guest guest
The puzzle piece ribbons are easy to make. You can find the ribbon at Micheals and you just take a jgsaw puzzle piece, paint it whatever color you want and when dry glue it on the ribbon. Our Autism chapter has made and sold about 3000 of these so far and we use the money for our chapter to pay to have workshops/info sessions with professionals to provide info and help/support families with Autism.. Guest guest
If you don't have a 's/JoAnn's/etc. nearby you can buy the puzzle ribbon online at: http://www.jkmribbon.com/offray/novelty2.html The puzzle ribbon is manufactured by Offray and is called JIGSAW 5. It comes in 10 yard bulk and is 7/8 " wide. You can buy it at this www.jkmribbon.com website at the wholesale price for orders of $25 or more (at least that is the way I understand it). I think the ribbon is about $7.50 for 10 yards. Timary > The puzzle piece ribbons are easy to make. Guest guest
I called JoAnn Fabrics today and found a couple of spools of the Puzzle Piece ribbon. It was described to me as being a white background with bright multi-colored puzzle pieces on it. I was going to go buy the ribbon and start handing these out to various schools, etc. Is there a specific week or month that we distribute these ribbons that is known as Autism Awareness Week/Month????? And please let me know if this ribbon is the right one. Re: OT: Wear a White Ribbon for Autism Awarenesss The puzzle piece ribbons are easy to make.
