Guest guest
More on the bug thing. Go into your local hardware or paint store and check out their five gallon paint strainers made of nylon. Make sure to get one with an elastic band that works nicely in sealing a big bowl or for those that brew in a five gallon bucket. What I did since they are tall is twist tie it off the excess above the scoby. The brew then gets light, air and no way for the bugs to get in. Also they work real well of course in straining the brew. If there is any problem with ants in the area just sprinkle aspertame around and they will be gone. http://www.mercola.com/blog/2006/aug/23/ got_an_ant_problem_use_aspartame Aloha > Aloha and Everyone, > > Interesting idea, but can't bugs get between the chopsticks and into > your brew? > > It is best to use a tightly woven, clean, cloth secured with a rubber > band to keep insects from enjoying your KT.
