I don't know about a colon cleanse...I think it might be too much for younger kids. But the pain we've dealt with by giving her probiotics and papaya enzymes. They will get her tummy to stop hurting fairly quickly. One time I also gave her (I don't any more because she doesn't like the taste) some Tummy Soother from Gentle Naturals (I found it at Walgreens). That started her burping and quickly relieved her pain. Bonnie

Thanks Bonnie, will look into glutamine. Yeah, Abby looks abnormal most of the time, and she goes around

rubbing her belly like she is constantly having stomach pain. Today I massaged her stomach and gave her

an enema and she got a little relief but still she's distended. Does anyone know about colon cleanse and if

that is safe for our kids???

TIA,

Kathy

Someone on the low oxalates list recommended glutamine for distended bellies. But I haven't tried it...we have been thinking about it because my DD also has this problem...she often looks pregnant and won't wear pants at all, only dresses, thank you...though oddly enough, for her, the only dresses rule started when the distension cleared up briefly. Suddenly she was afraid all her pants would fall down. Bonnie

Hi group,

Abby has been off miralax for about 3 months, after being on it for 7 years.

I think the damage that was done to her may be permanent. I thought she

would be functioning better, but motor-wise things are the same and her

belly remains distended. The only time I see it somewhat flat or flatter is when

she has an enema which I only do as needed, maybe twice a month.

I'm wondering if this is from inflammation and colitis or if she is just not getting cleaned

out enough. She is also like me that when she eats a meal she gets bloated.

I'm also wondering if any of you juice? With a power juicer, I mean? Am thinking

of purchasing one for my health and hopefully for Abby as well. Has this helped your

child's constipation issues??

Thanks for your thoughts.

Kathy
