Guest guest
I don't know anything about the amygdala beyond what I can find with a google search, but it's interesting because it apparently filters information gained from the senses. I've often felt like my filters aren't working, and that's how I describe my problem sometimes. This article talks about fear and panic, and I suppose the amygdala has something to do with fight-or-flight, which is, I think, responsible for the arousal we feel when triggered by sound: http://serendip.brynmawr.edu/exchange/node/1749 It would definitely be interesting to see MRIs of people hearing their trigger noises--I wish I were a wealthy and brilliant scientist!
