OT: Holidays?

Hi all!

I'm new--SAHM to two boys, 7 and 8. My 8-year-old son has autism

(HFA/Asperger's). Anyway, thus far we have managed to avoid attending

family Holiday events but my MIL is pushing for us to come to her house

this year for Thanksgiving or Christmas (she is out-of-town and in the

middle of nowhere so hotels aren't an option).

I just have reservations about it for all sorts of reasons, relating to

my son with autism. Now my husband is suggested we invite everyone

here (these are all out-of-towners so we are talking a few

days/nights...six people). It stresses me out to even think about

it. Granted, there is no guarantee my son will have a hard time with

it but I just imagine he will based on his history to date (he has

anxiety around peers, does NOT like very little kids, and gets

overwhelmed in loud/chaotic situations....) so I want to keep the

Holidays with just our immediate family.

Finally, my question, how does every deal with the Holidays???
