Guest guest
My middle daughter had a sleep over last night for her birthday, and there was a girl who came whose demeanor reminded me of my youngest daughter who suffers from 4s. After the girl left the next morning, my middle daughter said, " Oh yeah, mom, she has what Becca has. " I wish my daughter would have told me sooner so that I could ask her questions and tell her about this website. My daughter says that she saw her holding her ears in class while a boy was eating candy next to her. Most kids wouldn't really notice this kind of behavior, but my two daughters who don't have 4s are so aware of sounds and they really are aware of spotting people who have 4s. My oldest daughter has identified and talked with two girls who have it (one from middle school and the other from her high school). My middle daughter has met this girl and is suspicious that one of her teachers has it. I know 2 children who have it from my daughter's old school, plus a lot of adults. Anyway, I could name 6 sufferers from at least 3 different schools in just my area. The schools have about 1000 students each, so that is about 1/500 students. So just by going by that sample of children (I don't think we have an unusual " cluster " in our area) 1 out of every 500 people would give us at least 50 million people on Earth suffering from it to some degree! Even if you said 1 per 1000, that's still at least 25 million people which is way too many. I think this is a major problem that people just limp through life trying to deal with. I think once the exposure is out there through our website and other things, it will be an explosion of people wanting answers, and hopefully then the medical community won't be able to ignore it any longer.
