Guest guest
Hi- For those of you who are interested in helping to fund research…..members of my local group met with the Knights of Columbus this week because the K of C had called me to tell me that they were interested in donating money for Ds research (specifically, research to prevent Ds, because they were not aware that there was cognitive research going on,) and were very interested in learning more when I mentioned it. So I would suggest contacting civic groups in your area to see if they would be willing to donate to research…every dollar helps.. Before the meeting, I had contacted Na’eem at DSRTF, and he sent me a packet of information to share with the Knights…when I told Na’eem that we were discussing research funding on the listservs, he wrote the following: From: Na'eem Salaam [mailto: nsalaam@...  ] Sent: Wednesday, March 11, 2009 1:57 PM To: Kathy_r@... Subject: Re: research funding Hi Kathy, Thanks for spreading the word! We appreciate the support and every bit helps move the research forward! So thank you for thinking of DSRTF! If other groups need any information, or if you would like for us to send packets of information to other groups, please let me know and we can get those out to them. Thanks again for the support and please, please keep us updated on ways we can help you spread the word about DS research! Best, Na'eem Na'eem A. Salaam Executive Director Down Syndrome Research and Treatment Foundation www.dsrtf.org The packet that  he sent was great..several articles about the research that is being done, information about DSRTF, etc.
