I have hand weights that came with my treadmill. So although it tells me to hold the rails, they obviously know that many do not, as it would be impossible to do both! Lolol. I enjoy using my hand weights and they really seem to help me keep my balance. It may be a mental issue but it works!

Back when I was going to therapy for my back I was told if you hold onto the rails your back isn't straight.

Then at the gym I was told the same thing, you don't work all the right muscles holding onto the rails, you tend

I read that article which stated never to hold the rails whentreadmilling. So I have tried that out and am pleased with the results.!
