Guest guest
Anyone know what school in Humble? (Please distribute to all listserv's in Texas and support this station's committment to highlighting these issues!) On Monday May 3, 2010 on the 9 pm news, KRIV-TV FOX 26’s Randy Wallace continues his series on special education in Texas. The story centers around an 8 year special education student in the Humble ISD that was repeatedly restrained for misbehavior by staff. Per the district’s own documentation, the student was restrained an incredible of 66 times in 18 days. The mother was left with no other alternative but to place him in a therapeutic residential placement and was forced to seek reimbursement from the school system. Oh , and by the way he was restrained only 4 times in 6 months at that facility. I have worked on a number of cases that Fox has reported on and frankly this is one of the most upsetting stories that I have ever been involved in. THIS STORY IS VITAL TO ALL OF US IN THE SPECIAL EDUCATION COMMUNITY TO SHINE A LIGHT ON HOW DISTRICT’S ARE ABUSING RESTRAINT ON OUR CHILDREN. If you are unable to watch the show live, please be certain to set your DVR’S for this story. The story will also be able after its airing on the KRIV web site at http://myfoxhouston .com The news at Fox 26 has made it clear to me that the station has an ongoing commitment to run stories on special education. The previous stories have made a dramatic impact on the station’s ratings. Please be certain to contact the reporter, thanking him for exposing this injustice. Your comments will help FOX to continue their commitment to run these stories Contact information for Randy Wallace: Email: Randy.Wallace@ FOXTV.COM By snail mail: KRIV FOX 26P.O.
