Guest guest
Hi , I also live in New York (on Long Island) and was willing to travel anywhere to help my son who had a tethered cord. I did a tremendous amount of research 2 years ago and found that the doctor and hospital were both important. I researched all the pediatric neurosurgeons in the NY area, and though there might be a good choice, I wanted the BEST choice. We ended up with THE BEST....Dr. R. and Boston Children's Hospital. He was amazing! And so was the hospital! Of course it is in Boston, about 4 hours away and if I had to do over again, I would do the exact same thing again. My son was 7 at the time and had no symptoms up until that point where he had the beginnings of a very subtle weakness in the left foot. We decided that as soon as symptoms began to show that was the time to do the surgery. Prior to that and about visits to 8 or 10 different neurologists and neurosurgeons, we kept getting conflicting opinions as to what to do. It was all so confusing as a layperson. I turned to the Internet for help and was able to learn a lot. Looking at my son thriving 2 years later, I know we did the right thing at the right time. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND Dr. and Boston Children's (the top pediatric hospital for 12 years in a row). If you have any questions, I will be more that happy to help. Feel free to write to me. Wish warm regards, Elana Elana61@...
