Guest guest
I am also musical, singing, guitar and piano and can hear when the pitch is off .... how about this song.....NO ONE by Keys I believe.... I cannot stand listening to that song.... it drives me nuts.... anyone else have certain singers or voices they cannot stand to listen to? Also, years ago I felt the same way about one note that Whitney Houston would hit that made me cringe.... Can anyone post a question or only the moderator? Just curious. Seems there might be connections between both musicality and need for variety/hatred of predictability.>> Hi all... My name is . Guest guest
> anyone else have certain singers or voices they cannot stand to listen to? Absolutely. 'Bad' music (by which I mean music that *I* think is bad) makes me mad like nothing else. The kind of music that I especially loathe is music that isn't really music. By which I mean music which is just poetry intoned. Bob Dylan and the Manic Street Preachers are two prime examples of this - they're basically poets, they're interested in the words, but don't much care about the music, and so the music they make is usually just words sung on a single note, occasionally going up a third, and then returning to the first note, with no key changes or actual melody at all. It makes me so mad. A lot of musicals do the same thing - musicals like Les Mis, where between songs they just intone their lines in a monotone with the odd third in. For god's sake, just *speak* those lines! Or Evita, where the words are all crammed in with no thought for scansion or flow. Argh! Honestly, when that kind of stuff comes on I have to leave the room, just as I do when someone's eating. BUt you know, it's not just music that has this effect on me. Bad grammar has a similar effect! When people say 'Fred and I' when it ought to be 'Fred and me', I have to work really hard not to shout at them. I just get really upset when things aren't the way I think they *should* be. Oh - I also hate Whitney/h/Celine style over-ornamenting. It's not big and it's not clever. And Dido style yodelling. Ach. Guest guest
I love the song by Keys No One - I can listen almost any kind of music I love it....have never noticed a particular song or artist that makes me cringe, but maybe I do not put much thought into it and just flip the station --- Pia Levensteins wrote: > > I am also musical, singing, guitar and piano and can > hear when the pitch is off .... > how about this song.....NO ONE by Keys I > believe.... > I cannot stand listening to that song.... > it drives me nuts.... > anyone else have certain singers or voices they > cannot stand > to listen to? > Also, years ago I felt the same way about one note > that Whitney Houston would hit that made me > cringe.... > > > To: Soundsensitivity@...: > logotique@...: Wed, 13 Feb 2008 14:22:13 > +0000Subject: poll questions > > > > > Wow, that is wild.
