So the DARS supervisor calls me today and stated that they won't accept the IQ testing done in 2008 (they say its too old) or 2009 (they'll only accept the WISC and the tests used in 2009 were the Slossing Verbal and the Stoelting Nonverbal) and they know they're not sending us to a psychologist that works with autism diagnosis, they just wanted somebody local to refer us to and they didn't have an autsm person in their local panel.

Gee. That makes so much sense. NOT. So he'll see a general family psychologist for an IQ test and an autism evaluation. Just lovely.

My SLP is here, and when I mentioned this to her, she said that she's found that SSI is very particular about getting something from the SLP. I guess because autism is a language disorder, they want to see how the language is being impacted. I know that after I initially provided them with the diagnosis from the neurologist, along with testing results from our district's autism team as well as the evaluations from the O/T and P/T, they still wanted a particular form filled out by our SLP. Still, they were very clear with what they wanted and were happy to fax it out to the SLP immediately so that it got taken care of quickly. I'm so sorry to hear that you're having such a hard time with it. Hopefully, something changes soon.Serena OMalleyserenaomalley@...
