Good morning everyone~

I'm relatively new to this list. My name is Marsh and I live in

Halifax, Nova Scotia with my husband, Coady, and sons Trey (9) and

(4-PMG).

was originally (mis)diagnosed with lissencephaly/pachygyria shortly

before his 2nd birthday. I sent 's MRIs to Dr. Dobyns back in

September, and he came back with a diagnosis of PMG with most of the

affected area in the parietal lobe.

The only outward signs of 's condition is a lack of fine motor

abilities in his left side, most notably in his left hand. He is able to

grasp with his left hand, but sometimes has trouble letting go. He can

move fingers independently at times if he looks at the hand and makes a

*large* effort. He calls this his 'silly hand.' also had a

sometimes-problem with getting choked up on fluids. Something clicked in

my head several months ago when I was watching drink through a

straw- he wasn't choking. It seems the head-slightly-down position gives

him the extra time he needs to coordinate the swallow. Now drinks

mostly through a straw and choking hasn't been a problem.

started full-time preschool at the beginning of November, and boy

does he love it! He is seen at the school by a PT/OT team twice a week,

and by a speech therapist once a month. His favorite thing to do right

now is fight with his older brother and say, " you want a piece of me?! "

I hope everyone on the list had a warm, loving and peaceful holiday, and

my best wishes to you all for the new year.

Marsh
