Guest guest
There are likely many alternative horse care lists. Those I know of are: Equine_Solutions_Network - A group formed to treat EPM using CS. They are chatty but very knowledgeable about CS use and all horse care. Some still vaccinate and use chemical dewormers - major head-scratcher. Natural Horse and Pet Care Natural Horse Holistic Pet 2 I have seen many references to CS killing worms at the single-cell stage. The adults die of old age. I 'choose' to believe this. There may be some reason why worm offspring would not be affected by CS but I don't see why worms would be any different from anything else at that stage. The standard dose for a horse when treating something like EMP is 2 cups (low PPM) twice a day. Some give the CS straight, others pour it on the feed. My horses get this dose throughout the winter (when I feed) but not through the summer. I give the CS to hopefully wipe out anything they have been exposed to over the summer and also to dissolve the MSM into their feed. The MSM is also a precautionary measure. One horse is old and the other is permanently disabled but he doesn't know that. DE is used a lot for deworming pets and horses (and people). I've seen reports from horse people who have done fecal exams before and after treating with DE. Some report 100% success; others say it doesn't work. The info that is always missing is how the horse is kept. That makes a HUGE difference. I do not chemically deworm ever. BUT, my horses are not confined. They never soil their shelters and don't graze anywhere near where they have pooped. The WNV vaccine is a farce. Not only does it not work, it causes aborted foals, still births, and deformities. Unvaccinated horses who have contracted WNV survive, vaxed horses frequently die. Pushing the WNV vax is just more fear-based propaganda from the pharmas. a
