Guest guest Report post Posted February 6, 2002 Hi , I know this post was for Amy but it reminded me of me. I have a neurogenic bowel and bladder. I wear protection 24x7. With my bowels I did get them down to an acceptable working level. I have a bowel program where I get my bowels open three days a week. My Days are: Monday, Wednesday and Friday, I have the weekends free. The night before I take my senakot and bisalax tablets. The next day my bowels do their work, they open about four times that day. I don't leave the home before mid-day on my bowel days. The incontinence nurse that I have, suggested that I do an enema on my scheduled day to get the job over all at once but that does not work for me. I have found it very hard dealing with having to wear " diapers " all the time and the bowel accidents really got me down. The diapers do keep me single because of my embarrassment of having to wear them. But they do save a lot more embarrassment if I wasn't wearing them. Can you talk to a male incontinence nurse or someone who is experienced with spinalcord problems. I'm in a support group for people with spinal problems and we meet every Thursday and believe me it does make it easier when you hear others openly speak about their issues. As hard as it is you do need to talk to someone about your concerns in life. I was told that we can get our bowels to work when we want not when they want.
