I had TC as well as have Hereditary Connective Tissue Disorder; Craniocervical

Instability; and Functional Cranial Settling. I was detethered 11/06 @ TCI. We

did attempt to do the ICT and Fusion during the same visit, however my pain from

the detethering was too much to handle and I freaked out during the ICT. I have

read of others that were able to do all at the same visit successfully though.

ICT can be done at any time after detethering. You can have the surgery the

next day, or when it's convenient for you. I believe that Dr. B doesn't like to

wait too long after the ICT to do the fusion or he'll want to do another ICT to

make sure the results haven't changed.

I had pain issues and was in the hospital for 7 days. I flew home the day I

got out. Thank goodness for my husband. I don't think I would have managed the

airports and all that without him because of the pain meds, etc. Now they are

using Botox injections to reduce postop muscle spasms and pain. A sister of a

friend of mine had her detethering and was out of the hospital in 3 days. Dr. B

does like people to stick around for a couple days afterward just in case

something comes up. So, next time, when I go for my fusion, I'll stay a couple

extra days.

Hope this helps,
